Character Clothing Profile FLAVIA JULIANA
While this isn't something that is really seen. I like to show Juliana's growth and personality change through the change in her clothing. Previously, she was insecure and would make it up with jewelry or excessive accessories in order to try to stand out. I first started playing her when she was around 15? I think, I dunno. (And I am terrible when it comes to aging up my playbys, they usually stay the same and I just ima

Half way through the year! Whoo!
Things have been busier than usual so I have been a bit behind with things. I'm also back at uni again and naturally that hits me like a bus to the face. There will still be issues of the AeRonian coming out.
New faces!
We have plenty of new faces here with us. Welcome, welcome! Hope you enjoy being here with us and the community.
What is coming!
Influential people.
This is something I have been thinking about on and off. Basically, my RL has gotten more involved over time and I have not been able to dedicate the same amount of time I used to AeRo in years past. For one; it was unhealthy as fuck, and two; my life has a lot of other priorities and I want to keep RP as a hobby. A much beloved hobby, but, a hobby none the less. This is going to be a tad rambly and hopefully I will edit it before I post it. But I might not depending on how I am going at the tim

Character Spotlight!
Helenus played by Atrice!
Helenus is a cheeky bath slave and has stolen clothes in the past. Check him out! Hit Atrice up if you want to thread with him.
Got a character you would like to nominate and why? PM me with it. (No I don't just want PMs.... okay, I do 😛 )

This is the Roman Empire at its largest historical extent, c. 117AD, shwoing the provinces and whether the governors of those provinces were appointed by the Emperor or by the Senate. Map unashamedly pinched from Wikipedia. Click here for the full-size map.
Please note that this is the RL Roman Empire; conquests made during the course of AeRo won't necessarily match up.

Excuse how small this is. This is a busy couple of weeks for me and I would rather spend most of the time posting.

I have a collection of images showing various (recreated) rooms of a Roman house, or houses, and thought you might like to see them! Very image heavy!!
A cubiculum:
Triclinium:
Private reception room? (Don't think this one was actually labelled as anything other than 'Roman room'!)
Another private reception room, with a very contemporary-looking sofa

Another triclinium:

I ended up practically tying myself in knots working this out for Reasons. This is pretty much the conclusion I came to, and a copy of something I posted elsewhere, for those reasons. I hope you find it helpful; if people would like, I could copy/paste this whole thing into an actual post somewhere to make it easier to find down the line...
Back to the topic at hand. Roman currency:
4 quandrantes = 1 as (both bronze coins)
2½ asses = 1 sestertius (a silver coin - well, 'silver') (als
Discovered on the Internet: Tube-style map of Roman roads by Sasha Trubetskoy. Scroll down the page for a more detailed look at province level... The included pic is merely a teaser!
Britannia; Gallia Iberia; Italia;
While not specifically a Roman game, this was still being played in the days of the Empire... Youtuber Tom Scott and Irvine Finkel, a curator at the British Museum, go head-to-head in one of the oldest board games we still have the rules to!
Roman Burgers!
Hello everyone and welcome to a new edition of Atrice's blog!
I was inspired by the chat on Discord, where someone linked to an article on the ancient Roman burger... and I can tell you all to make it at home, because it tastes quite good. I have made the Roman burger at home a few times (it's our Lupercalia food, it seems). The burgers are called Isicia Omentata. I use Apicius' recipe - Apicius was a Roman gourmet who wrote down a number of recipes from his era and the

The site has now been around since 2008!
Thank you to all the members and past members for making the site such a memorable one!
Down memory lane.....
Some of my most fond memories of AeRo is meeting and making friendships with people around the world. Many who still check in on us and see how we are doing. I am happy that the community has grown and in many ways, grown
I was just looking up some information on gladiators and slave markets, and thought I'd share this site with you all - it's one I use a lot, because it's easy to get an overview here and it's also easy to read. So instead of scrolling through tons of Wikipedia pages for info, this is a bit easier - just click the link below

Issue Two (April)
A month in!
Way to go, AeRos!
Are we all surprised that I kept up with the AeRonian? 😛 I know I am.
Upcoming Events!
Lupercalia is coming up and Sarah has put down Tiberius as a candidate.
Do you have a man who you think would be suitable to run naked through the streets of Rome and strike ladies with a bloody piece of skin from a sacrificed goat? Nominate him here and we can get rolling!
We have the opener

Awesome photos - thank you so much!!
I think there's a vast difference between knowing Roman homes were decorated so colourfully and actually seeing it IRL... and the mosaics on the floor. Such fantastic pictures, thank you!
They are incredibly sticky (in the recipe it says they are gruesomely sticky, in fact!), just so you know it... but yes, I could definitely imagine a few of the chars having this served 🙂
