   Gaia lived a blessed life. 
   Her days were mostly spent with delicious foods, beautiful surroundings, and even more delicious people. She walked around the gathered crowd of people. The Domus Venus was a place she could have potentially ended up if Archaita had not offered her as a gift to her son. Thus, changed her fate. Since her mind was influenced by an interesting mixture. Her attention wandered briefly towards a duo of beautiful people dancing for a Senator who had a reputation for severity & traditional values. She burst into giggles, no matter how many times she had seen such a sight. It never failed to amuse her.
   "You are so kind," She answered, dimples in her cheeks showed and smiled. 
   Her attention brought back to the Domina of the Domus Venus, beautiful and Gaia did not need to be asked twice. Her hand extended to take Titinia's in her own. The skin was soft and warm much like her own. "And... what pleasures will we experience together?"

   She knew that Corinthia would be utterly furious with her. A part of Gaia felt a childish defiance towards her daughter's agitation and gleefully traveled to the Domus Venus. Oh! How she missed the sheer pleasure associated with the place. Corinthia purposely chose to deny herself this incredible experience, and she had no desire to encourage her any longer. Perhaps it was folly? Either way, her eyes lit up as she entered the Domus Venus and looked around. The sights were incredible. All the workers were utterly beautiful, perfectly formed bodies that looked like marble statues made flesh and smiled. Soon a slave offered her both a compliment and a glance of wine, something she eagerly took.
   There was one person she desired to see, someone she found herself thinking about when there was a moment of quiet. Titinia, the owner of the establishment and the Madam who had welcomed her so much during the Saturnalia. Her favourite time of year. 
   Gaia did not wish to cause a fuss. She sipped the wine and walked around the establishment. Occasionally she took a peek at a few Senators with some rather interesting kinks. The sounds of the acts and coupled with the music filled her ears. At times, she wished her late husband Manius was by her side to enjoy all of these pleasures with her. The reminiscent thought soon passed when she saw Titinia speaking to one of the workers, she pondered approaching and wondered how best to do it. 
   She polished off the contents of her goblet and handed it a random, confused Senator and walked towards Titinia. 
   "Salve, I hope you remember me?" She asked, and gave a little hiccup to indicate she had drank a little too quickly.

   Gaia was perfectly happy in the present situation. With the two bickering men gone it gave her some time to focus on the beauty before her. She smiled, placed the piece of fruit in Titinia's hand and again, swayed on the spot. All the senses were always heightened this time of year. All Gaia knew when she asked for peaches, she received them and her head slave managed her accounts. Although lately Corinthia had taken a greater interest in the money.....
   "Hmm, nothing but pleasure and the appreciation of beauty," She answered, raised her goblet in a salute whatever deity happened to be around them. Gaia looked at the chair that was brought, blinked and looked around in a hazy of confusion before she took it across from Titinia. Admittedly, she had wanted to sit with the brothel madame herself although Gaia was not one to complain nor push for more. Gaia turned her head to glance at the lovelies, each was beautiful and even moreso with the thrill of Saturnalia. 
   "Oh, my lady," She answered, followed by a giggle. "Perhaps some time with your lovely self? If, you are willing?"

   Gaia absolutely loved Saturnalia. It was one of her most favourite festival seasons. Who could not love the merriment that the came with it? The generosity? The giving? The sexual enjoyment? The feasting? It was all absolutely blissful. She wanted to get out of the villa and away from Corinthia's dark mood. She loved being around the happiness and naturally she ended up at the Domus Venus. She smiled, her eyes lit up at the festivities and of late she had been fairly modest in her tastes when it came to the flesh. In the crook of her arm she brought honeyed sweets, fruits, and other things to make joy. 
   
   Gaia swayed a little as she watched the spendour around them. She waved to the elegant woman on the reclining couch, a beautiful sight and walked towards them. Her hand reached out for a goblet of wine, sipped it and offered a treat from her basket to the two men before she sat beside Titinia. Gaia had not met her before although she had been a distant client of the Domus Venus in the past. However, she never stepped foot inside the building itself -- she had been focused on sharing genorsity outside the building. 
   
   She was not entirely sure how she ended up here. 
   
   "Ave Venus," She smiled sweetly and offered her something from her basket. "Would you like to try some of my fruit?" She asked, playing the role of the role reversal that the Saturnalia was known for.

   Gaia twiddled her thumbs while Corinthia sat across from her in the litter. Corinthia was angry with her, yet this time, she had no idea why. Corinthia was angry with her. Yet it seemed like the regular occurrence for her. She breathed deeply, it had been sometime since she had been to one of these functions put on by the Imperial family. What was her status now? What was Corinthia's? At times, she wondered what would have happened if she had of pressed their rights. Yet one look at Cyprianus, Clemens, and others they were associated with let her know they were going to use them for their own ends. Therefore an escape to Greece was made. The invitation from the Augusta had come as a welcome surprise, and she was delighted to accept.
   
   She smiled happily, loving the feeling of being able to be involved with things. She looked at Corinthia, her daughter looked beautiful and soon she would be ready for marriage. What sort of man would want her daughter? Would Corinthia try to kill him? Away from her watchful eye. What kind of a monster would she be? While her daughter wore white, she wore a pale blue chiton and golden jewels. Her hair was curled, dressed and framed her face with additional hair pieces to add volume to her hair. Corinthia naturally walked ahead of her, and she shrugged to herself. Her pace slow as she gazed at the surroundings around her. There was a time when all the physical beauty of these villas would have left her in awe, they still did. Looking at Corinthia, one could forget that she was the daughter of a slave. Who would have been a farm girl if the Gods had not intervened all those long years ago. She could not help but smirk at the thought.
   
   People had already arrived and she began to wander around. She lifted a goblet of wine from one of the slaves with platters as they walked around her. Gaia walked towards the edge and looked in on the gathered nobility before taking a moment to people watch.

   Personality.
   Gaia, or Χρυσανθη (Chrysanthe) as she was originally known as was not born with malice in her heart. Deep down, she believes that there is good in everyone and if you're nice to people they will be kind to you. Despite how many times the events in her life have proven otherwise. Gaia enjoys the fruits of life, having developed a taste for them and enjoys surrounding herself with beautiful people, and things. She is sensual, a lover of music and can play both the harp and the flute. And has been known to have taken many lovers over the years. Some were a necessity, some were out of love, and others were completely out of pleasure. She is able to speak both Greek and Latin, along with being able to read and write in both.
   
   Gaia never developed the mind of a politician. Fortunately for her, she has no illusions about her intelligence levels and in modern terms would be considered a ditz. Gaia is not a skilled liar, often stumbling over her words and avoiding eye contact when she is being dishonest -- although she also does this when she is intimidated by something or someone. She is charitable, often going out of her way for her friends and fortunately her faithful body slave Nahia would often keep an eye on her. There is a loving, sisterly relationship between the two women with Nahia often instructing her Mistress to make the best choices.
   
   Gaia is a parent to her daughter, Corinthia. The daughter of the one time adopted heir to Claudius before the fates decreed that another should take the throne. Loving, protective, and unfortunately she completely spoilt her defiant child. Her daughter has a cruel, defiant, possessive and domineering personality. The opposite of her kind-natured mother. She believes most of her family to be dead. Generally she does not think of them or the bloody fates they had.
   
   She lost her first and most beloved husband, Manius Claudius Caesar or Manius Acilius Glabrio Leontius as he was known before he was adopted. While the man had a vindictive and grasping nature, he was always kind and considerate towards Gaia. Spoiling her and eventually taking her as his wife before he was slain for murdering Claudius. Gaia to this day believes he is innocent -- well, mostly. She has taken many lovers in the past and was known for her enjoyment of it. While there were many friendships formed, none of them resulted in either marriage or a relationship. Many of her betrothals have ended up with the death of her fiance's before the date and she has begun to wonder whether she is cursed with bad luck.
   
   Ultimately Gaia wishes for her daughter to be happy and safe. Deep down there is a suspicion about her daughter's true nature. An actual confirmation of her sweet daughter being a monster would be her greatest fear come to life. Another fear is the complete destruction of Rome although far-fetched. Although another would be to become enslaved once more.
    
   Appearance
   Gaia stands at 5ft tall. She has a slender frame with average muscle tone, her body has womanly curves on the smaller side and her skin is olive in colour, although darker in the areas that have been exposed to sunlight. She frequently has a relaxed and casual posture, and has been known to slouch when she sits down.
   
   Her face is round, her eyes are large, dark and expressive. Her eyes are framed by thick, dark eyelashes. Over the years the sunlight has given her the earlier signs of crows feet that will deepen over time. Around her lips are the lines that will slowly turn into smile lines as she gets older. Gaia's teeth are slightly off-white. Her hair is naturally curly, often flowing down her back and is a light brunette in colour.
   
   Informal/around the home.
   
   A simple peplos of varying colour, although they are typically white. A palla may be draped around her head or shoulders if the weather is colder than usual. The linen is always high quality.
   
   Formal occasions.
   
   She often doesn't wear the stola, the symbol of married and respectable matrons of Rome. A fascia around her breasts beneath, her clothing varies; yet she often wears blues, expensive white fabrics, pinks and matches her jewelry to what she's wearing. On her feet she wears sandals made out of soft leather, decorated with jewels.

   History
   Gaia was born as Χρυσανθη (Chrysanthe) in 40CE. Her childhood was mostly uneventful and fairly conventional for her family. She was born into a family of farmers, well off yet still farmers. She was mostly illiterate, working hard to bake bread and otherwise be obedient. Her betrothed was selected to be a cousin of hers, mainly so there would be no loss of money within the family and so they could be sure that she would marry a good man. Chrysanthe was mostly oblivious to the world around her. Her world was her friends, family, and the village they resided in. One thing she did know was that money began to become harder to come by in 52CE with the rising taxation. 
   In 53CE, her brothers joined the rebellion against Rome and this was unknown to her parents.  When the civil war came to Greece and the retribution was swift and decisive. Her parents were slain in the conflict with her brothers taken into slavery. Many of the women were taken as war booty, however, her beauty was noticed by Manius Rutilius Cyprianus. An ambitious man who wished to offer a gift to the Imperial family. She was given to Manius' (her husband to be) sister, Archaita. In turn, she was given to her son as a plaything and a genuine love formed between the pair of them. Manius taught her how to read, play the harp and the flute, and showed her a world that she never knew existed. He gave her the name she would now go by. Gaia. The name Chrysanthe now long forgotten. Faithfully, she followed him wherever he went during the course of his travels, and worried for his fate should the worst ultimately occur. Still, she was happy. Manius broke with convention and married her. Already casting a dark light on Manius' political career and reducing his favour among the members of the nobility. In <>, her mother-in-law, Archaita, passed away and Gaia did not find herself missing her. 
   Birth of Corinthia occurred in 55CE and early on it was easy to see that the child inherited her mother's beauty -- yet her father's ambitious mind. She spoiled the child, and after the loss of Manius, she spoiled her even more and ignored the warning signs about her daughter's personality. In 56CE, Manius, the love of her life died, and she mourned and wept for him. He was given a proper funeral to honour his status and his life. 
   In 57CE, she becomes increasingly aware that she needs to maintain favour with the Imperial family and reaches out to them. They are friendly and considerate of her, despite her former status, and she is relieved. 
   In 60CE Lucilla passed away only to be followed by Junus and Honorius later on. She reached out to try to help although there was not much she could do. She stayed in Rome as long as possible before she felt it got too dangerous. She fled with Corinthia to Greece, and stayed quiet. Perfectly happy for Corinthia to forget who she was in order to keep her safe. She heard the news of the dictatorship and the uncertainty involving the Imperial twins, and the fate of Rufia Flavia. All she could do was remain in safety in Greece -- unfortunately, she was unable to reach them to help them without drawing attention to herself. Something she has long regretted not being able to do. Many years after the fact, she has heard word from Honorius as he travels by a different name and unfortunately, no word came of it and she began to worry. 
   Quintus became Caesar in 63CE and with it brought peace and prosperity to Rome. When she was sure it was safe, she returned to Rome with Corinthia along with the family's most trusted slaves. Her slave Nahia was officially freed and remained in her household as both a friend and patron. Over the years, there has been considerable happiness and a bright future for them. Over the years, offers of marriage began to trickle in although unfortunately all the men seemed to go missing. Her life has been most uneventful, her amorous behaviour has slowed down now she has begun to feel more secure in her place in Rome, and wanted to remain free from connections. Her marriage had brought her money, security, and relative freedom. Something she was unwilling to compromise for anyone. Her years were mostly uneventful although she has connected herself to the current Augusta in friendship. Perhaps Gaia is more politically ware than people would first assume? 
   In the current time, Gaia is seeking out a husband for Corinthia (and possibly for herself) and hopes that there is a bright future for them both.

   Laugher poured out into the streets surrounding the Domus Venus, the inhabitance of the brothel having a merry time as they all celebrated the festivities of Saturnalia. The doors were open, welcoming all those that ventured into from the streets. Common and noble alike. Fees were waved and her boys and girls held the right to refuse service if they wished. After all it was the time of year when all social norms were abandoned, and the Venus' lot had a little bit of say so thanks to the approval of their lovely Madam.
   Titinia, herself, lounged on a sofa near a firepit for warmth. Tangled up in the blanket she had draped over herself. Eyes watching her boys and girls as they made merry. The Lord of Misrule running around playfully terrorizing some of the newer members of the 'household'. Her laughter mingling with the others as she sipped at her wine, before placing the goblet down to pour more for herself. She noticed figures hovering at the entrance and instantly her hand raised up, beckoning for those curious to come.
   "Come, fine patrons." She called out, her tone melodic. Her smile charming and welcoming, "Come!" She said louder. "Enjoy the fruits Domus Venus has to offer."

   Set before the Imperial Banquet
   
   The afternoon had finally arrived. Claudia had been assisting Drusilla with the decorations and the preparations for the Imperial banquet. It was the first time she could remember being in Naples, it had not been an overly exciting journey to get to the villa, and she awkwardly dozed most of the way. The city was beautiful. Slaves had assisted her when it came to bathing herself in the ornate baths and relaxed in the water. Once or twice she nearly nodded off being being awoken by one of the slaves. Her body was dried, perfumed, and her hair began to be decorated and styled. Claudia was not oblivious to the fact that as a young, unmarried woman that she would be on show for the supporters of the family. Marriage, it was something all women had to go through. She was well beyond the accepted age of the Vestals nor did she wish to be as restricted as they were.
   
   Her chiton was a pale blue, decorated with semi-precious stones and clung around her waist with a decorated belt. Her sandals were made of lambskin, soft and delicate. Also decorated with semi-precious stones. Casually she chose the jewelry she would wear as it was placed on her body. She stared into her reflection and had to wonder what this night would bring. Claudia stood, drew her gold trimmed palla around her and wondered whether or not she would lose it by the end of the night.
   
   There was a little time before the guests would arrive, and Claudia did not wish to be the first one at the banquet. She wanted to be fashionably late yet not excessively so. In truth, her mind raced with a variety of thoughts about what the night would eventually bring.
   
   Slowly she walked towards the decorated gardens and saw a person. "Salve?" She greeted them questioningly, not yet able to see their face.

   In 60CE Lucilla passed away only to be followed by Junus and Honorius later on. She reached out to try to help although there was not much she could do. She stayed in Rome as long as possible before she felt it got too dangerous. She fled with Corinthia to Greece, and stayed quiet. Perfectly happy for Corinthia to forget who she was in order to keep her safe. She heard the news of the dictatorship and the uncertainty involving the Imperial twins, and the fate of Rufia Flavia. All she could do was remain in safety in Greece -- unfortunately, she was unable to reach them to help them without drawing attention to herself. Something she has long regretted not being able to do. Many years after the fact, she has heard word from Honorius as he travels by a different name and unfortunately, no word came of it and she began to worry. 
   Quintus became Caesar in 63CE and with it brought peace and prosperity to Rome. When she was sure it was safe, she returned to Rome with Corinthia along with the family's most trusted slaves. Her slave Nahia was officially freed and remained in her household as both a friend and patron. Over the years, there has been considerable happiness and a bright future for them. Over the years, offers of marriage began to trickle in although unfortunately all the men seemed to go missing. Her life has been most uneventful, her amorous behaviour has slowed down now she has begun to feel more secure in her place in Rome, and wanted to remain free from connections. Her marriage had brought her money, security, and relative freedom. Something she was unwilling to compromise for anyone. Her years were mostly uneventful although she has connected herself to the current Augusta in friendship. Perhaps Gaia is more politically ware than people would first assume? 
   In the current time, Gaia is seeking out a husband for Corinthia (and possibly for herself) and hopes that there is a bright future for them both.
