    Hello AeRos!
    I hope everyone is staying safe with the virus, and is doing well. 
    I never thought that AeRo would reach or touch as many people's lives as it has. I'm grateful to everyone who has been part of the site, and the long history that it has had. AeRo is going to be twelve years old soon. I was 19/20 or so when it opened, and it has been through a lot of my life. Both the good and the bad. Many of the the friendships I have made on here are some of the best I have. The staff have a lot of things that are planned for us for the birthday. If you have any suggestions, please let us know and feel free to create something for the occasion! 
    My work has increased and while I love it. It often leaves me drained and "wut r werds" at the end of it. I'm not dropping any characters or quitting. I am still invested in the site, and I am not going anywhere. I need to schedule time in, and get used to the changes. If I am ever slow to respond to your posts or have to close them. Please don't be offended, and I will be happy to start something fresh with you. 
    Getting back in the saddle of posting again will be tricky. But I should be getting caught up soon. ❤️

    Next Senate Meeting! 
    This part of the Senate thread is wrapped up.
    Characters within the Senate are more than welcome to attend this one whether or not they attended the first one. It is likely they would have heard bits and pieces of what went on via the grapevine. 
    If you are stuck on the Senate thread or proceedings. Check out these threads to help you get a feel for things.  
    Other Senate Meetings will include; 
    - The situation in Germania.
    - Matters concerning the East with the Seleucids. (Slower build up with this one.) 
    If you have any ideas or things you would like for the Senate. Let us know and we will check them out.
     
    Hiatus member group! 
    The staff have reviewed the rules that have been put in place concerning activity.  Basically, RL kicks people in the butt sometimes and people need a break.
    What we ask of you is to keep in touch with us and answer questions you may have concerning what happens with your characters. While people will do their best to keep you in the loop. Please remember threads and plots may move on without you. 
    Members can request that their accounts go under hiatus for any reason. Please DM or PM a staff member to let them know and make sure to post a notice on the Away board as well. 
    At this time there is no time limit for how long a member can be under Hiatus. 
     
     
    The Clubs!
    We are more actively using the clubs feature for the collegia, racing factions and the ludi. We're still trying out this feature and getting used to it all. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let us know!
    Also please note, members are welcome to join the clubs but please keep character memberships for characters who are actually involved in that particular faction.  
     
    The Collegia Info! 
    We have updated the gangs areas of expertise, made some edits and clarified things.  Loosely these are the changes that have been made; 
    The Mandatum focus on protection for businesses. 

    The Syndicate focus on a mixture of prostitution and violence. 
    The Apolloni are focused on more low level violence. 

    The Wolves of Roma are focused on betting scams. 

    The Servian Collegium are focused more on high profile targets. 
     
    The Timeline regards to canon
    Okay, this has come up a couple of times. The Timeline is currently being revised to make the system and events easier to follow.
     However, the Timeline is what is considered site canon and any threads that may differ are not. If you would like to request a change to the Timeline you may do so in private, however, there may be reasons why something was changed and the staff will consider your request. We will let you know if it has been added or not.
     
    Other relations
    There has been some interest in borders well beyond Rome. At the moment, we are focusing on plots centered around <> and <>. However people from <> are welcome so long as they are merchants. There are no plans to expand this. (need more)

    Age & Birth Position. 17 (b. 57 CE), Eldest son.
    Position: Potential Heir, Caesar's son.
    Parents: Q. Flavius Caesar Alexander Augustus & Imperiosa Acuelonis
    Other family: Twin brother, Cneaus Flavius Alexander Gemellus (deceased). Half-sister, Flavia Caesaris (goes by Rutiliana) and half-brother, Drusus. Adopted brother, Tiberius.
    Personality: Very outgoing and generally loved by the people. He's not a cruel young man by any means, but he does have a certain pride to the way he presents himself -- he enjoys his station as the son of Caesar and thinks it's a given that he will be the next emperor. He enjoys spending time with his uncles -- Scaurus Alexander most of all (because he's youngest) -- and also is good friends with Marcus Silanus.
    History: Raised half with his grandmother, Annthea and his father in Rome. However his mother was still a regular part of his life. He had an excellent education and was incredibly close to his deceased brother. During the civil war he went to live with his father and returned to Rome when he was victorious.
    Ultimate Goal: To rule Rome.
    Other information: Has mixed Roman, Greek, Egyptian and African origins.

    Members are welcome to use the Blogs feature to create their own blogs. Primarily, it is near enough a free-for-all. However, please do not use it as an oppurtunity to talk negatively about AeRo's community (I doubt anyone would ever do it.) or another community. Ideas for possible blogs are; cooking, RPing, historical facts, etc.

    Character Clothing Profile

    Gaia was a character that I never thought I would get into. She was one of my, "well, throw her into the world and see where she ends up!" and I got to say, her story has surprised me. Gaia or Χρυσανθη (Chrysanthe) started her life as a poor farm girl in Greece. However, in AeRo, her story began as a slave when she was given as a gift to Manius (one of Claudius' heirs and his nephew) by Archaita, Manius' mother. Essentially, she was supposed to be some entertainment for him. She was 15/or 16 depending on what was changed. Her innocence and sexuality were both two things that drew Manius to her, and gave her freedom, marriage, etc. 
    Despite his passing, she has always had a lustful streak and it is shown in her clothing. Her hair is often loose, untied and it is not uncommon to see her wearing a simple chiton. Free flowing, relatively casual, and I want to describe Gaia as a bit of a free spirit through her clothing. 
    When she does dress up, this is normally how her hair tends to be. 

     
    Later on, I will do Corinthia's as well so there is a bit more of a comparison between mother and daughter. Earlier, much of Gaia's clothing was a symbol of how out of water she was when it came to dealing with the wealthy members of Rome. In comparison to now? She wears these pieces of clothing because she wants to.

    New character Mod functions! 
    There has been a character mod update and it has brought with it some handy features.
    We now have an automated Who's Who listing. Please check the character group to tell whether they have been accepted or not. 
    Additionally, there are other handy features to be made aware of. 
    Character Listing.
    In the top right you are able to search the character's name. 
    You can sort or filter it depending on your personal preferences. The unsorted member group is for characters who have not yet been accepted onto the site yet. 
     
    Quick Applications for Events! 
    Quick Applications!
    These are disposable characters that are used for racing, gladiatorial games, and have a separate application for this purpose. 
    Usually these characters end up dying or being maimed during or at the end of that particular event. These characters may use face claims but they are not able to 'hold' a face. 
    If you decide that you would like to continue playing this character? Fill in the full application form to get them underway and wait for the usual application review process. 
     
    Gladiator and Racing team information! 
    We have made some edits to the information associated with the Gladiator teams.
    However, most importantly, the Racing teams have been updated and added onto with more information about the current factions. 
    Please be sure to update me about which faction your racing person or Ludii related person is a part of. 
     
    Gladiators!
    There is currently a push to get the gladiators underway. 
    Racing!
    We have the information available here along with the racing canons. For the purpose of AeRo RP, regular horse racing has been added into the chariot racing teams as well.

    Gladiatorial bouts! - How they are to be decided! 
    We are currently working out how these matches will be decided. Stay tuned for the next issue for more information on them.

    Checking the F.A.Q is a great way to double check things before coming to a member of staff with your question. If your answer is not there though, please feel free to message one of us. 
     
    The Clubs feature! 
    The clubs feature is now able to have characters linked to it! 
    We're sorting through how we're going to use them. Stay tuned for more information to come about how we will be managing it. 
     
    Information and Edits!
    If you think some information needs to be added or edited to the site information. Please ask the staff if it is okay prior to doing so and the information will be reviewed by staff prior to being posted on the site. In the past there have been incidents were members have added information that clashed with existing site information and/or would give incorrect information to other site members. 🙂 
    Also! Are there any parts of the timeline you would like to be expanded on? Any information you think would be helpful? Please let us know so we can fill it in.

    Related to the Juni-Silani clan. There is a chance she would currently be married or would have re-married after Junus.  Titus Flavius Caesar Alexander.
    The second of the Roman princes. Eldest surviving son of Quintus.  Appius Vitellius Scaurus.
    Leader of the Servian Collegium. Senator. He has children and other family members available.  Imperiosa Acuelonis. 
    Mother of Titus Flavius Caesar Alexander.  Livia Lucretina
    Noblewoman of Rome. 


      If you are interested in playing any of these canons. Please send message the person who is responsible for the information, and organise backstories, etc. 
    Also please note that if you are having trouble IRL or issues playing a character. Please let the staff know so we can offer help or you are welcome to take a hiatus if needed. Please take the time to post on the Absence board to let people know you are going on a hiatus and when you expect to return to the site.

    Character Clothing Profile

    While this isn't something that is really seen. I like to show Juliana's growth and personality change through the change in her clothing. Previously, she was insecure and would make it up with jewelry or excessive accessories in order to try to stand out. I first started playing her when she was around 15? I think, I dunno. (And I am terrible when it comes to aging up my playbys, they usually stay the same and I just imagine them looking a bit older or younger depending.)
    There were many events that led to her ultimate growth, and I wanted to be able to explain more about her. 
     
    Transition to Matron
     
    A Survivor
    (TW: Miscarriage reference.)
    The death of her husband in Britannia and pregnancy was important. Juliana has always felt a need for protection and safety. Previously, she had a lover (she later had killed, well, twice because he survived the first time >.>) and ended up loving the idea of her husband, than the man himself. 
    The purge caused her to flee (while heavily pregnant) with Lucius Junius Silanus and Marcus Junius Silanus on the boat to Egypt/North Africa. There she miscarried on the boat but kept the baby with her to be buried by the Proconsul at the time, and subtly using it to try to bring him to her family's cause. Those months were a blur. Instead of being protected, she had become the protector. It is something I would love to write about more and explore. Essentially, she had to sell or pawn her jewels, her finery, and survive without it. It is also partially why Lucius, Marcus and Juliana have a close bond. 
    However, the purge has left her with a quiet hatred of the city of Rome and the inhabitants. When she is in the city it is not uncommon for her to get ptsd flashbacks of what happened. 
     
    Matron of Rome. 
    Her marriage to Quintus Caecina Tuscus originally angered her, and she did not like being passed off like war booty to a man who had supported her uncle. However, the marriage was a happy one, and a lot of her "ideals" of the perfect husband changed, too. He respects her desire to stay away from Britannia due to her past. (Although I will someday send her there because I can! Muahahaha!). 
    Part of this is becoming a step-mother to Caecina Tusca, and part of why she is so protective of her is because she sees a lot of the younger version of herself in her. So, she wants to save and protect her from that. She is also a mother to her sons and daughters. 
    Juliana has become more resilient in her personality, stronger and wiser. She prefers being in a garden and has become more "earthy". Her jewelry is often minimal, and her clothing has become more conservative as well. The colours are more subdued than when she was younger. 
     
    This is more something she would wear around the villa or the farm. Depending on the weather and the company. 

    She doesn't tend to wear all white, her colours tend to be more pastel in colour and her jewelry is minimal. 
     
    This is now more something she would wear if she is in the city. Likely for a festival or to visit a member of her family.

    Juggling RL and RPG

    This is something I have been thinking about on and off. Basically, my RL has gotten more involved over time and I have not been able to dedicate the same amount of time I used to AeRo in years past. For one; it was unhealthy as fuck, and two; my life has a lot of other priorities and I want to keep RP as a hobby. A much beloved hobby, but, a hobby none the less. This is going to be a tad rambly and hopefully I will edit it before I post it. But I might not depending on how I am going at the time. I also deal with chronic illness and depression that can limit the amount of time I can dedicate to it. There will be times when I am quieter because I am dealing with those issues. 
    I set hours for work related, study and AeRo in my calendar on my computer and write them into my journal. My calender near enough has every single activity that I need to do per day in it. E.g. Household chores, cooking, eating, rest time, hygiene, and social time. Yes, I have organised social time because I am perfectly happy being a hermit weirdo even if it is bad for me long term. It is a fairly loose system. 
    Basically, I go by the following.
    Do any apps need reviews? Yes. Do them. No? If it isn't Thursday. (My designation site updatey day and it isn't urgent? It can wait). 
    Then I go by posts. Sometimes, I will go by character who I have been thinking about the most and then by who has been waiting the longest. Sometimes I need some time to think of how they would realistically react to whatever it was. I have a lot of characters (not as many as I used to though!) and some vary in their role in the site. Some were primarily just me wanting to play a character for fun (and there were times when I used to have to justify doing so). It made me realise how much I had turned AeRo into a job and a chore, in some cases before. It didn't end well.

    tldr
    I try to be organised but unfortunately I am a creature of chaos. 
    Being organised but flexible can really help muse and routine. 
    RP is not a job. Don't treat it like one.

    Half way through the year! Whoo! 

     
    Things have been busier than usual so I have been a bit behind with things. I'm also back at uni again and naturally that hits me like a bus to the face. There will still be issues of the AeRonian coming out.
     
    New faces! 
    We have plenty of new faces here with us. Welcome, welcome! Hope you enjoy being here with us and the community. 
     
    What is coming! 
    Influential people.
    The section on Influential people of the past will be completed. We hope that this will help people to see the prominent characters of the past and help to give background about these characters. If you would like for your character to be connected to these characters, please let me know. 
     
    Site Canons. 
    They are going to be polished and perfected. If you see any inconsistencies that are associated with them, please let us know so these can finished as soon as possible. 
     
    Family trees.
    AeRo's families are all pretty big! Family trees will be coming to help with this. 
     
    Chariot team leaders.
    These will be up shortly to take along with some general wanted positions. 
     
     
    At the moment there is no time frame when these things will be completed. Rest assured, they will be completed and there will be more things to sink your teeth into. Some other pieces of information will gradually be reworked and sorted out. 
     
    Thread Roulette! 
    Sign ups are finished and soon you will be assigned your RP partner! Let the fun begin!

    Excuse how small this is. This is a busy couple of weeks for me and I would rather spend most of the time posting. 
     
     
    New features!
    We have a block dedicated to Unanswered open threads in the sidebar! 
    This is where you can hit up any of the unanswered open threads and show them some love! Also, feel free to start your own. 
    And a place you can now view Your Characters to see the character masks you have made already. To find it normally, click IC on the top menu and this is what you should see. 
    We have some more features coming and hope to get these up soon. 
    Alternatively you can now view your characters (or someone else's) on their profile! 
    Everyone please thank Kit for these. They make the site much easier to navigate and be able to check out everyone's characters.
     
    On the discord server!
    We now have a completed applications section to say your application is complete. That way it won't get lost with all the conversations happening in the general chat and your application can get reviewed speedily! 
     
     
    Want to suggest an event? 
    We now have an official place to do it! (Although you are still more than welcome to comment on these blogs!).

    Help with tracking threads!
    Sometimes it can be a bit tricky to keep a track of all our threads.

     
    All Activity means you can check out all the content that has been posted on the site. 
    Now looking next door to the "My Activity Streams" and there are a couple of dropdowns. 
    Content I started. Content I posted in. You can also use the filter feature in order to search for individual tags, too. 
     
     
    Months changed!
    We are now in the months; April-June. 
    Your month tags will need to change to reflect this in new threads. 
    If you still have threads going from previous months or years. Feel free to keep posting and enjoying them. If you would like threads in the previous set of months you are welcome to create them, too. 
    Any threads set in the years before 74CE should be posted on the Back in Time board. 
    We're still working our how we will be managing the progress of time on AeRo.

    Down memory lane.....
    Some of my most fond memories of AeRo is meeting and making friendships with people around the world. Many who still check in on us and see how we are doing. I am happy that the community has grown and in many ways, grown with us. Many of the lessons I have learned, friendships I have made, and skills will be with me for a lifetime. Many of us have grown up with the site. I am so grateful to have had it and all of you in my life.❤️

    Deceased characters in play?
    Yep! You can app and play deceased characters although there are some conditions. 
     They must be played on the Back in time board and the AU board only. You need to check with permission beforehand to see if you can play that character.  Be aware that generally you need to have played that character in a past version of AeRo to play them. Especially if they are a canon.  The Deceased characters use black and white avatars (much angst!) and do not hold any face claims.  They go through the same application process.

    There are some features with the software that I don't think everyone knows about. We have the gallery feature where members are welcome to post memes and things about their characters, pictures, and their artwork, too.

    Lupercalia is coming up and Sarah has put down Tiberius as a candidate. 
    Do you have a man who you think would be suitable to run naked through the streets of Rome and strike ladies with a bloody piece of skin from a sacrificed goat? Nominate him here and we can get rolling! 
    We have the opener for the Senate thread in the works. 
     
    More characters! 
    We have so many new characters that have been brought to the community! I love reading the apps and seeing them get involved in plots with everyone. 
     
    Canons and Wanteds! 
    Feel free to check out the site canons and the wanteds!
    These are a great way to get involved with the community off the bat.
     
    New features!
    Members are now able to change their display name once every seven days. 
     
    Statuses!
    Members are free to post statuses on the site. 
    You can also post messages (and gifs!) on people's profiles, too. 
     
    Time-stamping threads! 
    It looks like people have been forgetting to do this recently. Remember to add in the Month and year at the top of the first thread. This helps to keep a track of threads. During the archiving process, it gets added in as a tag to make things easier to find. 
    When your thread is done poke me on the request threads archived/moved to be archived.

    Do you have any suggestions for things? Let me know! Feel free to send a PM, a DM, or contact me through the private staff contact board.

    Well, we're here and we made it to the new site! 
     
    We're still getting things pieced in together, so if you see any mistakes? Please let us know. 
    Essentially there are going to be a few kinks and bugs, so hopefully, we will push through it and get rolling with our new site!

    There is also the lovely Timeline system! Hopefully it is made easier to follow and crafted by one of our new members, @Kit!

    There have been more canons added and (we hope!) it is more organised and easier to find the perfect canon.
