  1. All Activity Checks will be canceled until further notice. With Covid 19 still having a tight hold worldwide, we feel this is one last thing you need to concern yourselves, our players, about.

  2. The hazy visage and voice of the spirit that was Lucilla was not a shock for Drusilla. Which allowed her to keep her face passive and calm as she felt the gentle movement of air next to her. She had seen them before. Her mother's spirit was much the same. It no longer frightened her, yet she kept it a secret. Not wanting to be called mad like her father. The Roman people judged one harshly once they were perceived as odd. She knew she was where Drusus got his ability to know things about Augustus and his life. Touched. Not mad. She glanced towards the way the young servant girl had went and prayed that she would not be back with more guards. Hoping whoever she fled to would not take her seriously. Drusilla so wanted a moment with the woman who came to sit next to her. "As had I, it broke my heart when I got news you had passed." she spoke, still in that soft tone. Once she was certain no one was rushing their way. An honest smile on her face as she rested her perpetually inked stained hands in her lap. How she had longed, a decade and more ago, to have been able to meet Lucilla properly when the other woman had been living. But perhaps this wasn't so bad? "It's not so bad." She echoed that thought, the hesitation hitching on her breath and she allowed herself to admit things she told no other. "I see you often. Just glimpse. You're always watching your children. My mother does the same. Motherhood never stops does it?" She asked that soft tone still there coupled with her smile. She sighed. "I hope I have done right by your children as you did for me." @Gothic

  4. There seemed to a veil between the world of the live and the world of the dead. It was thick and heavy, opaque on the side of the living for most - leaving the two worlds closed off from each other. Those who lived and could see the other side were either blessed or cursed in their own eyes, mostly cursed. Seen as paranoid and crazy and thus, shunned by those who boasted more logical sense. Causing others that had been gifted with such abilities to remain quiet. Drusilla was one of those that remained quiet. Rome already eyeballed her in wait to see if she would show her father's insanity. She needn't give them a reason to do believe that. Besides, her 'gift' only seemed to come at certain times of the year, it wasn't all the time. And the one that came to her most was her mother, who lingered more now that she had a child of her own blood. As if desperate to be there for her daughter. Even if it weren't the same. But the figure this day wasn't one she ever saw before. Yet she knew that was a lie. It was the figure that watched Claudia and Tiberius with longing. The one that vanished long bouts of time and if Drusilla knew deep down who it was, she knew where this spirit went. The area was empty, for the garden was dark at that time of night. She was once more restless with thoughts of the day and the future and would be for a few more hours. The palace was quiet except for a few spaced guards who she knew was just out of ear shot. She moved closer to the figure, quietly taking a seat near her as she cleared her throat slightly and murmured a soft hello, still wanting to keep her tone soft not to alert anyone else to her. @Gothic

SPRING 63AD The small villa was in chaos and standing in the midst of it was Drusilla as she stood there, hearing the panicked voices of her household gathering things, shouting to each other over the men that were coming. The dust trail from multiple horses had begun to blow this way, and in through the opened windows. In truth, while she did appear to look frozen in fear, she was not. She was still in absolution. If these men meant her death, then that was what they meant. There was no sense for her to act unruly. She felt hands on her, and she smiled to the aging woman that had raised her from the beginning of her memories, her soft voice telling her to run and hide. Dru shook her head, "No, I won't run from this." She said softly, her words bringing an end to the chaos around her, the shouts turning into murmurs of concern for their mistress. "I want all of you to take what valuables you can carry, and go out the back of the property, however. If they are coming for me, then only one of us needs to lose her life." She said before raising her hand to silent the words that came. Sounds could be heard coming from the large wooden gate and she glanced towards the door, which would be the second barrier between them and those that were coming. "Please." She stressed before a resounding no came from all of them. And it warmed her heart that her small household would stay with her but it worried her, that their peace was no longer allowed. That the potential of bloodshed would be great as whoever was coming might be there to kill them all. The small group of women jumped when the wooden doors to the main portion of the swung open, giving them ample view of those that came. A loud gasp would be all that greeted the man as her women moved around in front of her as if they were her shield. The aged housekeeper reached out to grip her arms as she stared down the man, her head held high as she waited for him to speak or for him to act. whatever it would be. @Gothic
  19. Horatia was no stranger to the market place, she and her daughter ventured there often for one thing or another. She knew she could send the slaves and trust them to get the orders right, but she had a thing about getting her own stuff for projects she was working on as gifts. Especially when it came to fabrics. Liking the be able to feel the quality of them before she purchased yards of it. This day was no different, with Appiana at her side as they moved through the crowd, stopping here and there to purchase little items that her daughter could carry with ease. Doing their business until she felt her daughter's frantic tugging at her arm. And she took a moment to keep herself modest as she asked her daughter what was wrong. "Flavia and Lucilla, mama!" came the reply pointing to the moving figures of two people they apparently knew. A smile played at her lips and she nodded to her daughter, "So it is, go great them while I pay here." She said sending the girl off, watching her as she ran through the crowd to meet up with their cousins. "Thank you" She said the merchant, handing him a few coins, "Keep the change" She continued before following the way her daughter went, calling out in greeting, "Flavia!"
  20. Aelia stepped into the domus one of the last to arrive, despite living on the same hill of the gathering's hostess. She had swiped her sister's copy of the tale to be read after spending an evening with her, not wanting to come unprepared. A gathering of women pouring over some old story was more her sister's cup of tea than hers, but Aelia was never a wallflower. Nor was she a social climber, but having married up when she married her and her sisters' childhood friend she felt her place was to be in society. Finding an empty seat on the outer reaches of the placed settees, she opened the well loved book that had her sister's hand writing on the sides. Little notes made by Gaia for future references, she supposed and she smiled tenderly before glancing up and taking a quick study of the room. Others were chattering and she contented herself to listen to the chatter instead of joining it just yet.

  24. "Ah, yes." She said glancing at the other stall as it was pointed out, "I've had run ins there. He tends to overprice and his product doesn't hold for long. It's surprising he still has customers to claim." More like the man had run ins with her husband after crates of near rotten produce had been delivered at their domus in the recent month. He seemed to be the only vendor she had issue with when it came to purchasing for home or the Venus. And even if her expression soured a bit as she once more stole a glance to the other stall before plastering back on her smile and glancing at the young woman. Ah good, they delivered. Perfect. "For now I will take half a dozen of the limes and lemons. I will have to talk to the cook at my place of business first to see what she'll need on a day to day or weekly basis, but for the peaches." She paused, glancing at them again. They were quite large, as she was barely able to fit her hand around the one she had, and she hoped they were as juicy as the promised. "I would like a dozen of them, and if I could set up a delivery of the same amount weekly to be sent to the Venus I would appreciate it. I have special friend who is a lover of peaches and I'd like to surprise her. But I fear she lives too far out of the city to ask you to deliver them to her personally." @Sara
