  1. The Races were something Cornelia seldom came to, she much preferred the Gladiatorial games more, and to be honest if hadn't been for her eldest that, she wouldn't have. But Minor wanted to come, he had caught wind of the new driver for the Blues and wanted to see him. Betting what little allowance his mother had allowed him to use that day. Gambling was a habit she had not wanted her children to start - yet. Cornelia could be called many things by those who knew her, and had experienced her more unpleasant traits first hand, but she could never be called a mother whose attention was absent from her children. She kept close eyes on her son, seated a few rows down from her, and she was thankful the stadium was sparsely packed that day. And thus, as a voice drew her attention away from her son, it came to no surprise to her that a friend of her husband would find her. "Aulus, it is good to see you" She replied, a charming smile coming to her face as she shifted to allow him more room to comfortably sit. "You should be congratulating my son on that, he's the one that was certain of our victor. Personally I was for the whites but he was the one that placed the bets." She said with a merry laugh. @Sharpie
  2. Bárðr 38 | August 7th 36 | Slave/Gladiator | Gladiator | Bisexual | Original | Brock OHurn Personality & History Has been a slave for far longer than he remembers being freed. His father was among those that made up the raiding party in the year 41 against the Gnaeus Alexander. Not that he remembered this. What he does remember of his parents is their laughter and the way his mother's cooking smelled. He remember sadness of his older brother dying after a harsh winter and the squabbling of his sisters. Things that lingered in his psyche long after being separated from them. After being brought to Rome he was sold to a family as a household slave, a playmate for the children until he was old enough to take on more tasks. The family suffered much financial lost during the civil war, and one by one the household slaves were sold to market - him along with them. Back to the slave traders where he would change hands many times before landing among the gladiator ludii in the year 68. 5. Titinia had no need to blush at the other woman's pretty words, nodding to her as she suggested more time with herself. "That I can easily agree to, my lady." She said with a wide smile. And was about to say more when another figure approached them. A familiar face to her, she noted when she realized it was her favorite 'supplier' coming to call. "Ave, Spurius." She replied fondly to him, "The delight I assure you is all mine." She said as she waved for one of the water boys to come present the man with wine. She quieted a bit to let him speak to Gaia, mentioning a barbarian for her daughter. And she gazed at the woman curiously. Spurius was right, she mused to herself, Gaia was surely too young to have a grown daughter. Then came the question of Justinia and she nodded, "She's a rare jewel, both pleasant and exquisitely gorgeous. I have a feeling she will not be with us for very long. Her kind tend to earn their way out of here far faster than expected." She said, giving a little pout at the thought but banished it when the girl in question came over to them. Her bright personality and response to seeing the trader a bit blinding. @Gothic @Sydney @Sarah
  6. Cornelia was no stranger to her husband's lack of skills when it came to tailoring. But that knowledge was needed neither for the admiration of the finery she and their beloved wore, nor the removal of said finery. The latter of which, he was aptly skilled at, if you went by their brood of children and the fact that they weren't exactly shy about the sexual side of their relationship. While, Cornelia was certain, most couples in Rome viewed sex as merely a tool of continuing the family, she was never one to deny herself something that brought her pleasure. "I'll figure it out, you can have your fun later when the dresses are made and upon her." She said, a twinkle in her eyes as they were delivered wine, the promise of food coming soon, she had hoped. And she took the offered goblet once it was poured and handed to her. "I had also thought of jewelry, but it is close to her birthday to have anything made to match what she already has. I suppose I could talk to one of the merchants though to see what they have ready made." She continued the conversation almost absent of mind as she sipped at her wine. "Of course on the subject of such occasions, we should perhaps discuss what we should plan for the children's. Minor's will be here before we know it." Rufiana would be ten this year, their eldest son a strapping 14. It unnerved her that her children were growing up. The boys, she knew would follow in the footsteps of their father and other male relatives. She was prepared for them to grow and join the ranks of military and senate. Her girls, however, she knew were borrowed time. Her time was limited to teach them of men and the ways of the world, of how they can be of use, politically, to their husbands. And yet, she felt dread when she realized her eldest daughter, her longed for girl, would soon be of marriage age. She would lose her far sooner than she had ever expected. @Gothic
  7. Gracing her husband with a fond smile, Horatia bit back the laughter that had bubbled up at his comment. Nodding to him. "She's rather loud when she wishes to be." She replied, her tone low enough not to wake the slumbering child in her arms but hopefully still loud enough for her husband to hear her clearly. Without any resistance, she relinquished her daughter to the girl's father. Who scooped her up carefully from their perch. Now free to move, Horatia shifted and stretched her upper body as she watched father and daughter. Smiling as Appius turned, giving her an expectant look and she stood. Following him, she could see one of their household slaves running ahead to make sure the fire was stoked in the girl's bedroom. Knowing to keep it warm for the young girl's health. She stood back as the body slave and Appius settled the girl into bed, Appiana remaining asleep through the whole of it. She was certain that her daughter could sleep through the worst of disasters and wake up without even realizing what had happened around them. "I am well. And you?" She said softly as she reached out for his hand, not moving away from the door frame. She continued, filling in with the report of the household "The boys are well as well. The three of them tired each other out practicing their swordplay this evening. It was uneventful." @Brian

    Take a Break!

It was hard to believe, looking at the couple now, that there had been a time where the two of them had loathed each other's presence. And to Lucretia, when the memories did cross her mind, she felt that it was literally a lifetime ago. And in truth, it was. Before the war, before their remaining parents deaths that had left them orphans, before marriage. They were not the same people, and for her it made her respect the gifts the Gods had given her even more so than she would have if all the trials and heartbreak hadn't darken their lives. She beamed a smile up at him, her body melting against his as she accepted the loving kiss, his laughter had sent warm vibes throughout her body and deep into her very core. "Quite well." She replied to his question softly, "The children are sleeping and I figured I would find you to see if we should retire for the evening or if you needed to stay up." She inquired softly, knowing that her brother-in-law, the Emperor, kept him busy to keep him out of sight and out of mind. But having Laelius home was always a welcomed thing if that was where Quintus wanted him. "Besides, we do have something to discuss." She said, pecking him lightly on the lips as she stood on her tip toes to do so. @Tori
  9. As I might want to venture back to this thread from time to time - so I'll just do one character at a time. Starting with my first ever AERO character. I'm not as manipulative or politically involved as Cornelia is, nor am I homicidal. She's a piece of work, and she's fun to play. LOL.

  13. Hello, AEROians! Welcome to our first non-event event, Roulette, where anything is possible! For those of you who do not know what a character-prompt roulette is, or is need of a refresher, it is a randomly selected coupling of TWO characters with a writing prompt and location. Thus opening the possibility of characters that otherwise would not have found their ways together in a natural sense. This event will not have a set location, however, you will be provided with one. The writing prompts might either be chaste or sexual in nature, however it is between the players if anything more than random conversation. And if it is sexual in nature, we encourage you not to follow its nature and show us how creative you and your co-writer can use it as the base of your thread. And any character that is paired with a minor will not be given a prompt of a sexual nature. For now, however, all you have to do is sign your character/s up with the following sign up template, and there are no limitations to how many characters per person that can be signed up. After everyone is signed up, we staffers will add our characters into mix to help balance out the numbers! And the more the merrier. You have a week from TODAY [August 2nd to August 9th] before sign up ends. character's full name - character's age - player the list Seia Imperia - 32 - Renna Aia - 27 - Chevi Quintus Flavius Theodorus - 43 - Chevi Thessala - 23 - Chevi Felix - 30 - Chevi Lexus Naevius Gineverus - 14 - Atrice Helenus - 21 - Atrice Rana - 20 - Atrice Aulus Calpurnius Praetextatus - 41 - Sharpie Paulus Annius Faventinus - 45 - Sharpie Teutus - 23 - Sharpie Volusa - 18 - Sharpie Rufus - 20 - Sharpie Oriana Laecania - 22 - Sydney Justinia - 18 - Sydney Pontia Comina - 48 - Gothy Claudia Gaia - 33 - Gothy Flavia Juliana - 31 - Gothy Valeria Maxima - 30 - Dev Rufia Flavia - 27 - Dev Jullus Flavius Alexander - 49 - Dev Aeneas - 23 - Sarah Tiberius Claudius Sabuchius - 17 - Sarah Spurius Antius Claudus - 41 - Sarah Charis - 20 - Sara Vibia - 24 - Sara Lucius Caecilius Metellus - 48 - Brian Appius Cornelius Scipio -40 - Brian Gaius Fabius Maximus -30 - Brian Sulpicia L Venusiana - 36 - Emy Cornelia Scipionis - - Anna Titiana Novella - - Anna Horatia Pulvilla - - Anna Pinaria Lucretia - Anna
  14. LATE SEPT 74 It was unusually cold that day, a reprieve from the heat that plagued the city. Autumn was well on it's way to arriving and Horatia appreciated it. Dear Appiana, however, did not. Her little girl was never one of robust health. Born a little too soon and a little too small, she found the cold as difficult to deal with as she found the heat, especially a sudden drop like today was from the days before. After a coughing fit that sent one of the household servants running to the physician, Appiana sat curled up against her mother. Who had a woolen blanket wrapped around her as she told the child stories she had learned in her youth, along with tales from history of their fine empire. "Your papa should be home soon." She whispered to her dozing daughter after she asked for him, feeling the slight body of the snuggle closer to her as they lounged before a small fire. Appiana was still small for her ten years of age, and Horatia worried what her life would be like if she married and tried to produce children. Perhaps she ought to talk to Appius about sending Appiana either out into the countryside to one of the family's villas or perhaps, seek out a life Vestal for her. Yet, she hadn't mentioned to her daughter that she was trying to give her a little sister, be it the gods will. Which it seemed to not be their will. Her womb had also not proven to be fruitful, as of yet, after the strike she took during Lupercalia, and it had not been from lack of trying. And she wondered if the miscarriage she had suffered a few years prior had done something to her inside to cause her to not bare the fruit of her and her husband's coupling. She smiled when she heard the soft snoring of the child in her arms, and she pressed a kiss to her forehead as she shifted to lay more comfortably. Waiting for either the child to wake up or for Appius to return so he could carry Appiana to her bed. @Brian
  15. Cornelia prided herself in the marriage that she had found herself in many years ago. It was happy, healthy. Sound. Filled with the laughter of their brood. She had done her job as his wife and done it well. a bit too well. Four children in a span of a decade, without a miscarriage between them. They had two strapping boys that would carry on their father's legacy in the future, and two daughters that would bring them new connections and family bonds. Daughters that would one day be their mother made over. There was also their beloved Venusiana to consider. Cornelia had made an oath to her husband that no other man would find his way up her tunica, women however had been another thing all together. The three of them became tightly bound to each other, but there was still moments when Cornelia needed to be with her husband, moments that didn't include their lover. So as their stroll through the Liviae found their conversation turning to the subject of Venusiana, she secretly cut him a glare from the corner of her eyes. "She has made hints of new silks for her attire, I figured we would find some rich blues and reds for her, along with matching wool." She said, mirth masking her flash of jealousy. She pulled her fine woolen shawl around her shoulders tighter as they came to sit in a quiet location. The order of wine and food was made clear and she watched as the young slave scurry away towards the vendors. "I do hope this one does a better job at picking out the wine. The last time I was here, the wine was not a sweet as it should have been." She commented softly.

  17. May 74 Spring came to their small family sweetly, finding Lucretia busy decorating their new home with care and consideration of her husband's status and family connection. Along with the ever present knowledge that there where three little ones running about - or in the case of Publius - toddling. It amazed her that her son was over a year old now, talking and walking a lot earlier than expected. Alexander pinned that on her, claiming she was the cause of their excellent son. But in truth, all of their children were her pride and joy and each had their own remarkable things about them. Even now as she blew out the candle to darken the room where the three of them slumbered in bed together, she remarked to herself what a lucky mother she had been blessed to be. A contented sigh left her, and she smoothed her hand down her flat stomach. Knowing the secret she kept safely in her womb. She and Alexander hadn't discussed another child. Publius had her bedridden, but she had had an extremely healthy pregnancy up until his birth. He had been a heavy baby, having taken advantage of his young mother's health and diet. With one last look upon her children she moved away from their rooms, allowing their governess to sit and look over them through their slumber. And she began to look for her husband, seeking him in each room that she could think he'd be. She wasn't use to the change in layout and most of their belongings had not found their proper place. But it didn't take her long to find him. She merely had to follow his voice. "Alexander!" She said, her voice singsong as she crooned out her nickname for her husband, bouncing up to him and hugging him around the waist from behind. @Tori

  19. Drusilla pulled the piece of thick woolen fabric she was using as a cloak around her tightly, making sure it hid her facial features well as she traveled in the shadows to the festivities. She would step forward only for the hand strikes, she knew. She lacked the conviction and the courage to expose her back to the luperci, lest she be discovered to be the Augusta. She would not seek embarrassment of the sort - not for her nor for her husband. She had raised many children since becoming a wife. Finishing off the twins' raising, taking Titus and Rutilliana into her heart as her own, even gifting her husband with a son that carried her name. But since Drusus, her womb had not allowed another seed to take root. Her physicians uncertain what the cause truly was. Both husband and wife were fertile from all they could tell. As she moved to join the others who stepped forward to receive the strike, she held out her hands as she kept her head ducked down. Relying on the wool and the shadows casted by firelight to hide her visage. Her hands were stained thanks to the ink she had been using that evening, just hours before. Letters to those she kept in contact with were well on their way. It would aid in her disguise, as she muttered prayers to the gods as she waited for the strikes to happen.
  20. "I fear that I will have to make many visits to Juno's temple for that to happen, husband. Or perhaps I should resort to something more ancient and pagan? The Greeks use to seek their Persephone in such a matter..." Horatia teased in reply at the mention of her eldest sister in law finally finding a new husband. They did not get on well with Decima, whom Horatia found to be a shrew and somewhat of a harlot at times. Cornelia was not lying when she stated that Decima was better off in a brothel. It did shock her however when she noticed Decima was not present. While she was quiet and liked her shadows and plants, she still watched the festivities with mirth in her eyes. "If Cornelia shows up, I would probably keel over, I know Quintus has all but demanded she not become pregnant again. Not after little Annthea nearly took her life. And Jupiter only knows Decima does not need to be here." She commented as they were approached. Would she step forward to take the strike? She wasn't sure for a moment. They had four beautiful children among themselves. Three strapping, healthy young boys and a darling daughter who was bright and creative. But she did long for a second daughter. She glanced up at her husband for a moment. "If I took the strike, would you be angry?" She asked, needing to consult him before she allowed herself to do so. "I know it is up to the gods, but I've had dreams of a second daughter and Appiana needs a little sister. I also have a strong need to show the family that Decima is the exception to your family tree." @Brian

  23. Wanting nothing more than to scold her boy as he and Marcus exchanged words, Nia merely huffed in annoyance. The smallest of sounds that only she could hear. If she had her way, he'd have a cock in his mouth or even elsewhere, working to earn his keep. Instead, she drowned another goblet of wine to dull her senses as laughter once more erupted from the crowd. A pleasant smile on her lips. Movement caught her eye as a woman entered and offered them a gift. Calling her Venus. A small merry laugh left her at that, "Do not fill my head with such hubris, miss" She said with a flirty wink as she extended her hand to take the present offered. A peach. Considering it was out of season that meant the fruit was brought in from warmer climates, and this lady was rich - possibly upper class. "Welcome to Domus Venus, what brings you to our goddess' playhouse, my lady?" She asked as she sat up, snapping her fingers for someone to bring over another chair. "And what can I offer in return? Perhaps one of my best for the evening?" She said, waving towards her darlings, beckoning a few to come to her in case Gaia agreed. She mmed as she bit into the fruit, "Delicious!"
