  1. Between those options, I would prefer reboot to sandbox. I don't like sandbox type boards, and I don't think they fit historical setting very well, but that's just a personal preference. As for reboot (or any other option), here is what I feel is important to me as a player: 1. Apps and membership being open and the app process being streamlined (maybe shorter apps, so they can be reviewed faster?) 2. Being able to carry over some characters and plots to the new setting 3. The site working at full capacity (having the character masks & notifications back, etc.) 4. Having active canon characters (whether they are mod-played or apped) to interact with, and having plots on a regular basis (whether they are mod-coordinated or open plots) I agree with Sharpie in that re-apping all our characters would create a huge workload for the mods at the start of the reboot. If the reboot comes with new history and plot, that would be a whole lot of work too. So I guess it depends on what the mod team feels like you all can handle, or if you would recruit some help for the transition. Thank you for asking these questions, and including us in this process! :)
  2. Don't die. Aia loved Decimus fiercely, which was good, because his advice in this case was useless. The world was spinning with her so she curled up again, vaguely aware that he'd left. Probably to get help. If they were lucky, the medicus that lived upstairs would be home... what time was it anyway? Aia tried to calm her breathing. At least she didn't have anything left to throw up. A few minutes later there was another voice in the room. "Didia?" she muttered, looking up. She was covered in cold sweat, but not feverish. "I... ugh. I must have eaten something?... I woke up like this." @Sains @Sara
  3. It felt... different, sharing her real name with Attis. A secret part of herself. She looked up with a softer smile as he complimented her. He really didn't need to; he was her husband, and they shared a child. And yet... Attis actually seemed to like her, despite her worst efforts in the wake of the birth. "Come here, you idiot." She chuckled, patting the bed next to her with one hand, as she still held the baby with the other. "You're gonna spoil her rotten, aren't you." @Sharpie
  4. Lucius winced, against his better judgment. Make someone pleased and happy... he wanted that. He wanted that with one certain someone. And he couldn't have it. Silanus did not seem very content in that department either; even if they could not share secrets, they could share the mood. They arrived at the gates of the baths and walked in together. Lucius tilted his head at Silanus. "So... not in a great mood lately, huh?" @Atrice

"We waited long enough to leave the city" Calpurnia pointed out, her smile softening as he hesitated. He always let her decide, even though she trusted him - she trusted him with her body, but also with her life, her reputation. She leaned in to kiss him again slowly. "But... correct me if I'm wrong, being a shy Vestal and all..." she smirked, pulling back "... salt water might not be the best place to do this?" She nodded her hear lighty towards the shore, where the cliffs overhung the beach. @Atrice
  6. "No, I just didn't want the boring kind of responsibility" Lucius grinned, raising his cup. He still felt at home in this house, despite not being at home. "But if it makes you feel any better, the men are giving me one hell of a hard time about it." Not that he minded. He had Titus, who set the bar very high, but also kept him humble. He looked at his brother, aedile now, tilting his head. @Sharpie
  7. Lucius knew the question was going to come back at him. He grinned at Silanus' answer. Still a bachelor. Living with Tiberius was not a bad way to do it, as long as he was climbing the ladder of the cursus, in close proximity with an imperial. And he must not have had someone special in his life if he was in no hurry. Unlike Lucius... who had someone, but absolutely no chance at marriage. "Not really" he shrugged off the question. "I just made centurion, I have my hands full, but... as much as I can do for the city, I don't think I'll be considered a valid prospect for anyone until I at least become tribune..." @Atrice

Calpurnia grinned as he pulled her closer, feeling weightless in the water, as if his body was the only solid point to hold on to. She returned his kiss. They were out in the open, for anyone to see, even if the chances of anyone seeing where very low. Still, it added a certain sense of urgency, of exhilaration to what they were doing. "Practice what?" she whispered playfully, hands traveling his shoulders and stroking his short-cut hair. Standing in the water like this, it was easy to hitch one thigh over his hip. @Atrice
  9. "A whole day..." Lucius smiled, returning her kiss. It was at the same time exciting and sad that that was the extent of their wishes to be together: spending a whole day in a cottage, away from prying eyes. They would ever really have more than that. "Alright, love. Let's plan that, then." He looked at her, not wanting to move at all. "We should probably go..." @Sara
  10. Aia felt a blanket draped over her, which was nice. At least Decimus was there. She felt embarrassed by her condition. There was nothing lovely about having your stomach upset. "Dunno... bread and cheese?" she muttered, glancing up as he appeared with... a pot of spice? She sniffed it, registered that it was cumin, and then felt her stomach immediately turn again, so she lunged for the waste bucket. There was not much to throw up now, but she heaved, and the effort made her dizzy. "... shit..." @Sains
  11. "I missed you too, Gaius" Lucius grinned at his brother, unfazed by his comments as he clasped his arm. "The vigiles don't have slaves to cook for them, but I'm not complaining about the food." he took a seat on one of the couches. "And my paterfamilias' headache has let up somewhat now that I'm a centurion. I'm guessing it will disappear when I make tribune and start seeming halfway respectable." He added with a chuckle, pouring himself a cup of wine. "How about you? Charting a path to consulship?" @Sharpie
  12. "Aia?" "Mmm" she groaned. She had woken up Decimus. Great. She deserved to be in bed, after being on guard all night. She wanted to tell him that, but the room was still spinning. "What's wrong, are you sick?" "Mmm." she was still curled up, and she felt her skin covered in cold sweat. Great. "Smthing I ate" she muttered, blinking. It had to be. @Sains @Sara
  13. Lucius blinked, looking up at her. Baiae?... That was not a bad idea. Away from the city. More importantly, away from the prying eyes of the other vigiles. He gave her a smile. "That... could work? If I manage to get permission to leave the city for a few days..." And make his way down to Baiae, and find a place for them to meet. But he'd make it work. "You know the place better than I do, but... I think we could meet there."
  14. It felt good, to be invited to his brother's again. Even though they were not legally brothers anymore. Lucius made sure to clean up before he headed over to the domus for dinner. He half expected that his brother had something to scold him for... although the chances that he'd know about the one thing that really deserved a scolding were pretty low. Still, Lucius, as a younger brother, always looked forward to these visits with a mix of excitement and wariness. He walked into the triclinium with a broad smile anyway. "Gaius! Missed my cooking?" @Sharpie
  15. September, 77CE Decimus was still asleep when Aia stirred next to him in bed. Early morning light was filtering through the window panes, and with it the early morning noises of the insula and the street below. Decimus had been on duty the night before, so he had only gotten home an hour or so before dawn. As much as Aia loved sharing a bed with him, she needed to get up, and start the day. Except, getting up proved to be harder than expected. As she rolled out of bed, the room appeared to be... kind of wobbly. Aia steadied herself, stretching her arms above her head, and almost immediately felt her head spin and her stomach lurch. Dammit. This was not new; she'd felt like that the day before too. Must have been something she ate, but she didn't have time to mull over that as she barely made it to the waste bucket in the corner before she threw up her dinner. "Shit." she muttered, feeling the room spin and her fingers to numb. She braced herself against the table, splashing water on her face from a pitcher, hoping to make the spinning stop; she even managed to drink some, and yet, it made her feel worse. Breathing heavily, she opted for the next best option: she lay down on the floor where she was, curling up, waiting for the feeling to go away. @Sains @Sara
  16. "No, not really... but sometimes people got new names after important feats. Or... life events." she admitted, adjusting the baby as she made little, contented sucking sounds. Metella glanced up at Attis as he asked his question. He looked hesitant, and she realized that he had never asked her that before. They were married and had a child... and he somehow never asked that. "Senovara." she answered quietly. @Sharpie
  17. Azarion watched as Vibia introduced the two men to each other. The other Marcus - Silanus? - was... not really anyone, or she would have added her title. Which meant that she was probably a young patrician. Those never did anything useful. But they did have money and now it was up to Marcus to convince the guy to sponsor the Whites instead of... spending it all on Vibia. To be honest, Azarion knew which one he would choose if he had the coin. Prize charioteer indeed. He tilted his head, watching Silanus. Was he going to go for fame and politics instead of partying?... Doubtful. If he had been allowed to gamble, Azarion would have bet against it. he glanced at Vibia to see if she had anything else up her sleeve. @Sharpie @Atrice @Sara
  18. "Dominus was being an ass. But he meant well." Metella smirked, watching her daughter. He knew Attis respected the dominus and harbored no ill will towards him for being himself. It probably didn't even occur to him that they might give the child another name. And definitely would not have approved of someone wearing his, attached to a Briton name. Even if the little girl was now free. A free girl. "I... don't know. Maybe a name will come to me eventually." As the child grew, she would show her personality. Maybe Metella would remember a name from her own people to give her them. "Not Noisy, though." She added with a smirk. @Sharpie
  19. "Pretty much the same" Lucius shrugged. "Fewer parties though. More burning building. This city is a damn tinderbox, have you ever noticed?" He shook his head. Too much talk about work. After a few months s centurion, he already had a tendency to go off into rants about the building regulations of the city and whatnot. Not exactly light conversation. "Any marriage prospects yet?"

"Good upbringing" Calpurnia grinned at him, allowing him to touch her under the water, floating close. She never felt any hesitation about him touching her. Here, in the water, it felt even more natural somehow. She gave him another playful splash of water. Gods, she felt like a girl again. Or maybe for the first time. "... and lots and lots of practice getting rid of said upbringing."
  21. "I doubt we could do this at a library" Lucius chuckled. He knew what she meant, but for a bit longer, he wanted to feel safe and comfortable, before reality came crashing down. "We'll find a place. Rome is big enough. And it has a lot of festivals."

    Summer Getaway

Calpurnia was up to her thighs in the cool water now, enjoying it in the heat of the sun almost as much as she enjoyed teasing Alexius. And then he went and splashed her and she jumped, turning around. "You dare!" he gasped, laughing at him. He was naked now too, and it dawned on Calpurnia that she had not seen him in the light of day like this before. He was quite a sight, making her blush. To mask it, she splashed some water at him too, before she moved to the deeper waters until she was submerged up to her shoulders.
  23. "I know. I know, love." he murmured, stroking her hair. They couldn't stay forever. Their time was short, and this place was not their home. But he was determined to have every last moment he could have, with her. And he was still feeling no regret. "But we'll always have this. We belong together."

"Very well. I feel very safe, then." Calpurnia gave him a smile, before she stepped back to undress. She slid off her dress and undid her sandals. She was not wearing anything underneath, and she nonchalantly looked away from Alexius as she walked to the water, trying it by dipping in her feet before she walked in deeper.
  25. "Give me?" he smiled softly. He never thought about it like that... her words made him feel warm. He held her closer. He never thought he would love anyone like this. "I wanted to do this... I wanted this, for you. So that you would have your first time like you should." She deserved to be loved. Cherished. "I... kept thinking about you being married... it was killing me, to think that your first time would be... bad. With a stranger. I wanted to give you the love you deserve."
