September, 75AD So much had happened since the spring, when Clio for the first time told her sister about the boy she met in the gardens. With whom she swapped clothes and wore boy’s clothes for a little while. And he wore hers! It was scandalous, really, but she had kept her promise and not told a single soul about it. They were twins, they’d always been together and Septima believed she would always love her sister and be loyal to her. They were very different apart from the fact that they looked almost exactly alike. But they were still sisters. Clio could trust her. They’d talked about Clio going to see the boy again and Septima would come along, so it at least wouldn’t be the two of them meeting alone. And maybe she was also a little bit curious about this boy, Lexus. But time moved on and they had not gotten a chance during the first month after and then it was suddenly May and their birthday. And then summer came and parties and events and then an earthquake shattered Rome! While the damages in their home had been repaired, the twins had been sent to spend time with relatives outside of Rome. And now it was suddenly fall and thoughts of the boy gardener Lexus were far away. The twins had other things to think about. After the earthquake, some people became homeless and some of them had settled in small camps the gardens in Rome - and it was decided in the family that the twins should go and hand out a little bit of food and clothes they had outgrown, to the homeless. Septima held a large sack with bread and fruit and her sister had the other sack with the clothes. Together they ventured to the Gardens of Sullust to hand out their items. As they came nearer the gardens, she looked at Clio. They spent much time together, but not all time, of course, so she was curious about how it looked like behind the walls to the gardens. She wasn't even sure she'd ever been here at all, “Have you been here since the earthquake?” @Chevi
13th of October, during the festival Fontinalia The Piscina Publica were public swimming grounds and luckily placed not very far from their home. And this was quite lucky on a day like today – it was, after all, Fontinalia and it was the day of celebration for Fons, the god of wells and springs. Septima Major was out with her sister, Minor, to celebrate the day. They’d spent the last few days on preparing a most beautiful garland out of flowers and grasses and leaves and now it was done and ready to be hung on a fountain near the Piscina Publica on this very day. Septima Major was excited – she loved festivals like these and could barely wait with going out. Maybe she spent a little too long getting ready. Septima Minor had been ready for a while, before Major finally decided she was done too. She wore a very pretty, bright green chiton with a yellow and red palla over it. Her hair had been done up on her head, with twirls and curls and a few yellow flowers and green leaves added to the style. It went very well with her pretty blue eyes. On her feet were simple slippers. They carried the garland together on their way to the fountain. She gave her sister a smile, after she’d waved to a few people she knew on the way – Septima knew many people and she liked to talk to people and make new friends, “Oh I hope someone else didn’t already decorate the fountain we decided on. It’s going to look so pretty, isn’t it?” Septima Major said with an excited tone, “I wonder if there’s going to be music too. And maybe someone set up a shop that sells food and drinks? We could stay a little while.” She suggested with a smile, “Oh, do you think anyone’ swimming in the pools today? That would be interesting.” @Chevi
It was a late afternoon and she had snuck out. Septima felt a little excited as she walked down the street, alone – there was no chaperone and her sister wasn’t here. No slave, nothing. She was on her own! Of course it wasn’t the first time, but she grew more brave and bold and she just wanted to go out and try and live life a little bit. That’s all she wanted. She wore a light green chiton today, with a simple (but beautiful!) dark green palla over her shoulders. Her long hair had long, wavy curls and was pulled a bit back from her face. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. It was a beautiful day. She didn’t really have a plan for where to go. Maybe she’d go and see a race, on her own? Or a gladiator match. She’d love to see that, without any escorts, so she could truly try and experience it. Or maybe she would just go and watch them train. She’d heard they could be quite handsome, some of them, big and muscular brutes and she was kind of interesting in looking at that. But maybe if she came close to the ludii, that’s where she would go. Maybe a trip to the market at first, buy something to eat for herself and then find a nice place to eat it. There were many places where you could buy a quick meal when you were out and about. Septima finally arrived at the large marketplace. She stood for a moment, just taking it in. It was then she saw a girl from far away, but thougth she looked familiar – an old friend of hers that she had not seen in years. Septima smiled and decided to approach her, but the girl then walked away with her escort and Septima followed her. They disappeared in the crowd though and Septima stopped, not sure it was a good idea to follow. Maybe it wasn’t her anyway. It was then someone walked by her and bumped into her and then hurried away. She arched a brow, not sure what that was about and headed back to the market to find some food. She reached for her purse and… it was gone! “Oh no…” She looked towards where the person bumping into her went, but they were long gone now, she imagined. This was not good... and she was hungry!
Septima Major 15 | 21 May 59CE | Equite | None | Openminded | Wanted | Vanessa Morgan Personality. Septima Major has a bright outlook on life and truly believes the best about everyone, unless someone really goes out of their way to prove they are the opposite. This can make her seem very naïve, which she probably also is. It would be easy to take advantage of Septima Major, because she really just is a friendly and caring person, who would take in every stray dog or child she'd find on the streets... if she was allowed to. Sometimes she's perhaps too friendly? She likes other people and she wants them to like her. While she tries hard to study like her sister, she's not quite like that and often daydreams and she gets easily distracted. But she just likes to have fun and likes to make people smile. She's also very curious about boys and probably a lot more so than her sister - and she likes to talk to them. Appearance Septima Major stands just about 5'3" tall, just like her sister. The set of twins are very much alike in almost every way - they have the same, slender build and the same light brown and sometimes almost golden skin. Major however has blue eyes while her sister Septima Minor has green eyes. Her hair is usually dark brown, although it takes a lighter tone in the summer. She likes her beautiful long hair and will often try and have it hang loose or just have a few braids or twirls in it. If she has a hairstyle up on her head, she usually lets a few strands of hair fall down as her bangs. While her sister is more down to Earth in her style, Septima Major enjoys beautiful dresses made out of luxurious fabrics and with bright colors. She also enjoys clothes that she believes makes her appear more mature and shows off her hips and bosom. Septima Major is also a fan of jewelry and shiny things and will wear bracelets, large necklaces and pretty hair pieces. She doesn't paint her face much, as she doesn't want to look like some cheap whore, but a dark line around her eyes and a little extra red on her lips isn't too much, she thinks. Family Father: Gaius Septimus Tunisius (deceased 61 AD) Mother: Petronia Aquililla (deceased 61 AD) Siblings: Septima Minor (twin) Spouse: N/A Children: N/A Extended family: Grandfather: Gaius Petronius Aquilius, 70 (he’s like a father to her) Grandmother: Aurelia Paulina (deceased 72 AD) Aunts and other extended family: Petronia Aquila, 36 and her children: Gaius Petronius Aquilius Urianus, 15 years old, cousin but more like a brother Uriana Petronia, 10, like a sister, cousin but more like a sister Petronia Aquila Minor, 34 Petronia Scribonilla, 33 Petronia Aquiliana, 27 Other: History Septima does not really remember her parents - she was only two years old, when they were killed during the civil war in 61 AD. Septima Major along with her twin sister, Septima Minor, came to live with her grandfather, grandmother and all of her aunts and cousins that still resided in the same home. In 63 AD, when the twins were 4, the entire family moved to Rome. She does not remember much of her early childhood. Most of what she remembers are happy memories together with her sister and her cousin, Gaius, who is almost like a brother to her and she sometimes calls him the third twin, because he’s the same age as Septima and her sister. They were close as children, but now they are growing up, it's not quite the same anymore. Her grandparents became more or less like a new set of parents to Septima and her sister. She especially grew close with her grandmother, who liked to spend time with the young twins, now that all of her own children were more or less grown up. Septima loved watching Petronia get ready for a party, even though she couldn’t go. But she wanted to see how Septima got dressed and put on her jewels and made her hair look fine. To Septima Major, there was nothing more beautiful than Petronia ready to take on the world – despite her age, but to Septima, that didn’t matter. Sadly, in 72 AD, Petronia’s life was over and during a quiet night she passed away, surrounded by her family – including Septima, of course, who was embraced by her sister that night. Together with the rest of the family they mourned the passing of a great and caring woman. Septima was very sad and it took several weeks before she felt ready to face the world outside the domus again. But she watched her grandfather move on and understood that although he missed her too, you couldn’t keep on mourning forever. Septima made a vow to herself to make her grandmother proud of her as she grew up. Now it has been a few years and Septima is growing into a beautiful and friendly young woman. While she isn't really interested in history or philosophy or even religion, she's a quite feminine young woman. She feels more than ready to go to parties, ready to dress up and ready to meet someone. She’s naturally a kind and outgoing person, who likes to chat and loves gossip – but she’s been brought up well and believes the best about everyone. Now she knows her grandfather will be looking for a husband for her, and Septima Major only hopes that it’ll be someone young, handsome and influential… and nice too, please.
