- The proscriptions are, on the surface, used against those accused of having been in-league with Valeria and Justus; they are in fact a tool Camillus and Valentinus use to rid themselves of enemies. Flavia Lucilla and her mother, Cornelia Annthea,to their best to spare the lives of the innocent and their friends.
- Claudius now primarily listens to Camilius, who he trusts and many in Rome are wary.
- The proscriptions severely damage Claudius' reputation as a fair emperor.
