GERMANIC INCURSIONS EVOLVE INTO A FULL-SCALE INVASION
- In Germania: A Germanic horde launches an invasion into Roman Germania, taking two Roman forts along the border.
- Auxiliary scouts arrive in Moguntiacum to report the invasion. Tribune Lucius Bellomarus of the 1st Raetian Auxilia rallies veterans around Aventicum; his numbers swell to 5,000. He intercepts the advancing Germans and engages them in combat. The Germans take great losses and lose heart; the Lugii and Marcomanni split, with the Lugii moving north and the Marcomanni moving south.
- The Lugii attempt to retreat back into greater Germania but were thwarted by Legatus Sulla Felix; the Romans win a complete victory over the Lugii; their king, Marbod is captured alive.
- The Marcomanni split even further and into more directions. The force under Vangio has moved westward into Gaul. His brother Sido leads a larger host and successfully captures Fort Aug. Praetoria; They winter in the Alps.
