Kratos was more than ready! If he survived this round of games, he had been promised he'd end up as doctore at the Ludus Dacicus and he would really like that! He wore the typical gear of a Gallus, a loin cloth in a dark, crimson color, sandals on his feet, body armor and of course the Galea style of helmet, that went with the Gallus gladiator. The crimson crests on top were made of horse hair.  Add to that a gladius, a lance and a large shield in the Scutum style. He knew he looked fierce and it was supposed to be like that.

Before entering the arena, he emptied a ladle of water over his bald head, drank a second ladle and then it was on with the helmet and into the arena. Kratos literally roared loudly when he came in and the crowd returned the roar with a few howls and whistles. They knew him, he'd been fighting and living for years and hoped he would continue to do so after this day - but only the gods knew what they had in store for him. Still Kratos smiled underneath the hemlet, he had looked forwards to this. His opponent better be fun to fight!

He prayed to his ancestors and to the Gods of his Fathers. A part of him wondered if they even heard his prayers anymore. How else would he become a slave? Basir grinned to himself, happy and eager. His hair long and braided. Made to look like the Parthians that Rome continued to have a mixed relationship with. He didn't mind. He was more than happy to play the role needed of him. Basir walked towards the horse he had been paired with, trained with and he had long learned not to get too attached to any of them. Still... he liked this fellow.

Basir mounted, patted the brown neck of the horse and a javelin was placed in his hand along with a bow. He didn't have many arrows placed in his quiver, each of them needed to count. He cantered the horse around the arena, screaming and baring his teeth as the crowd both cheered and booed him.

He recognised his opponent, yet did not know him well.

He rode close and looked up to await the opening of their match.

OOC: RL got crazy.
