  1. Europa

    18 | 4th May 58 | Slave | Gardener | Demisexual | Wanted | Marina Moschen

    tenor.gif?itemid=10530730

    Personality.

    Europa, for most of her life, has been a docile thing and was trained to be so. She, like many of her station in life, chooses not to make many waves in order to be spared negative attention from her owners. Quiet and reserved, she isn't much of a talker even when spoken to. She does bare resentment towards her circumstances, often wishing her father would free her. And in her own despair she is resolved in the knowledge that he probably won't ever do so. And there is a growing rebellious side in her that wishes for a taste of freedom. She bares little fondness towards her sire, his wife and mistress and his other children.

    Appearance

    She is petite and of a slender figure, though not underfed. She has her father's dark hair which falls to her waist, often pulled back and her mother's dark eyes, and is pretty of face. Her daily wardrobe is one that is consistent of that of a slave within a senatorial household. She is not allowed jewelry nor make up. At the end of a long day in the gardens, she's often seen with a smudge of two of dirt on her cheek from brushing her hair out of her face.

    Family

    Father: Gaius Fabius Maximus

    Mother: Dorcas

    Siblings: Gaius' other children.

    Spouse: n/a

    Children: n/a

    Extended family: Connections though her father and mother.

    Other: She gets on with most of the other household slaves well.

    History

    There isn't much to Europa's story. The domus she calls home is the same domus she was born in. The daughter of the then young heir and the slave girl he took to bed. A spring baby that came in the year 58. She would be the eldest of his children and the most unfortunate of them. Whilst her half siblings enjoyed freedom, no matter their legitimacy or lack of it, she would live a life enslaved. Under the same roof as her father, never truly acknowledged. Sure she knew who he was to her, her mother would whisper it to her in moments between them.

    The other slaves that worked in her paternal household tried their best to teach the young girl all that she needed to know. Perhaps it was in hopes that she would one day actually be freed due to her blood connection to her father, but that was perhaps a pipe dream for all of them involved. Her life was not a harsh one, at least not physically. She took to gardening early on, something that eased the childlike need for freedom. Perhaps it was just the task of digging and playing in the dirt and watching what she helped nurture grow into beauty.

    At some point before her 16th birthday, her mother is sold off. Leaving her alone without the sole parent that loved her all of her life and with a wound that only festered distain for her father and master. Two years later, she's no closer to the freedom she desires and she's starting to find herself scared that she might never gain it. She has long given up on gaining her father's affections and even acknowledgement.

  2. CONSILIUM PRINCIPIS

    Founded in the year 76 with the abdication of Quintus Caesar and subsequent transfer of power to his still youthful son Titus, the Consilium Principis takes its name and function from the body created by Augustus half a century earlier. The Consilium is the de facto legislative body within the empire. Any and all new legislation that is discussed within the Senate is first decided upon by the Consilium. Unlike Augustus' original inception, the Flavian Council is composed of members whom - initially - have been hand-picked by Quintus Caesar. Each member will remain in power so long as they hold their respective position, and entry into the council varies depending on the position and other factors detailed below...

    • Two Flavians: These are first-and-foremost members of Caesar's immediate family - uncles, brothers, sons, and potentially in-laws. Their role is to serve in any capacity Caesar requires, but they are also intended heirs to Caesar's powers. Should any misfortune meet Caesar, they are generally considered to be next in line. Should either of these members be removed from the Council for any reason (death, treason, inability), Caesar alone decides upon the replacement.
                                    || Jullus Flavius Alexander + Octavius Flavius Alexander

    • The Princeps Senatus: The most-decorated member of the Senate. Must be of a Patrician family. This position lasts for 5 years. Traditionally, in the days of the Republic, the Princeps Senatus was named by the Censors with every census (every five years). Currently, this is a position voted upon by sitting senators only. His main role is as a delegate between Caesar and the Senate. When Caesar is not present in Senatorial debates, it is the Princeps Senatus who carries the right to speak in his stead on behalf of the Council, and who presents any legislation decided upon by the council to the senate. Should the seat open before the end of the five year term, a special vote is cast by the Senate to choose a replacement who will serve the remainder of the term.
                                    || TBD, currently NPC
    • Two Consuls: The consuls of the senate are elected into power by will of all citizens in the empire. Their primary function is one of delegation and diplomacy, specifically seeing to the needs and troubles of the provinces, and delegating with foreign dignitaries. This position changes every year with the election of new consuls. Should Caesar himself sit as consul, a suffect consul will be elected to serve within the Council. Likewise, should a consul be removed from his position for any reason during his year term, a suffect will be selected by the council to fill the position for the remainder of the term. After serving their term, consuls almost always will receive governorship of a province.
                                    || Aulus Calpurnius Praetextatus + TBD

    • The Praetorian Prefect: A position created by Augustus and largely dissolved by Quintus, the now-restored office of the Praetorian Prefect holds the all-important role of protecting Italia and the imperial family. New to the Praetorian Prefect is his role in military development as it pertains to auxiliary regiments and the general upward movement of equestrians. In many ways, he is the representative of all equestrians. The Praetorian Prefect must be a man of Equestrian standing (cannot be Senatorial). All candidates must have risen up through the ranks of the military, whether the auxiliary or regular legions. Nominees are put forth by the senior-most equestrian officers of the empire, and Caesar chooses his man. The position is for a max of 5 years.
                                    || TBD via voting

    • Two Peoples' Tribunes: A role that has largely fallen into disuse over the course of the empire, the people's tribunes are now the direct representatives of the lowest class of citizens in the empire. Though still members of senatorial families, these magistrates must be of a plebeian senatorial family, and are not yet sitting members of the Senate. Their duties are to relay the voice of the common people to the Council, whereby legislation can be crafted and later introduced to the Senate to make into law. The Tribunes of the Plebs no longer have the power to veto laws, though they can intercede on behalf of individual citizens facing any sort of legal action.
                                    || TBD

    • Two Companions: The companions are Caesars closest, most trusted allies. Whether true friends, or servants, they can be of any status - slave or otherwise - and exist as a failsafe to support Caesar and give him (hopefully) true, unfiltered advice. Caesar alone decides upon these companions, and they remain in their positions as long as he wants them. If the companions are of noble status, they hold the official position of Legatus Augusti, with the power to do any task to which Caesar sets them.

  3. A collective gasp could be heard from the ladies that surrounded her as the man barged into what had been her home for all of these years. Drusilla held her head high and she stood proudly and unmoved as she held the gaze of the man before her. The women herded closer to her as they took in the still wet blood splatter that would stain anything white or offwhite that he was wearing.

    There was another stubborn tick of her jaw as he inquired about her by name. "Yes, I am she." she replied to his first question, her nanny-turned-housekeeper scolding her for doing so. They were still much under the impression this man had been dispatched to kill her.  He wouldn't be the first, she knew that, but he might very well be the one who succeeded and that had finally ate at her stomach.

    His next words however caused that stubborn and steel to melt away. To be taken to Caesar? Protection, security and safe passage. "To where?" She asked, in a moment of shocked dullness forgetting that Caesar would be in Rome. She was being offered the chance to return to the city of her birth. The city that killed her father and mother. "Why?" She also questioned, why now? Why after so many years being kept here - out of sight and out of mind.

  4. Late March 76

    Porticus Liviae was always beautiful in spring, and Aelia for one enjoyed a day strolling through it when she could. Marrying Tiberius had allowed that her household could function without her having to oversee it constantly. And now she was lounged on a blanket, slightly leaned towards her toddler daughter who babbled away at her while grabbing at her toys with clumsy and chubby hands. Her own hand would raise every so often, with her head perched on the other, to gently push away the golden-brown curls that Lucilla boasted.

    The toddler's happy exclamations might have drew some attention from those who were there that day as well, but Aelia didn't mind it. Her daughter was young, and for a child of not even two was not at all overly rambunctious as most others her age where. Her joy, on a sunny spring day was a welcome sound to Aelia.

    "Your aunt should be here soon with your cousin." She cooed at the girl as she sat up a little more, ringlets cascading down due to her movement. Then she pushed self sitting upwards, her hands going to the basket of food and jugs of wine she had brought with her. Everything was still wrapped and sealed nicely, the savory scent of the meat pies floating from the basket made her hungry.

    "I hope..." She said as she glanced to her daughter who wasn't even listening.  A smile tugged at her lips as she shook her head and looked around before spotting a familiar face and waving at them "I think she's here!
