    The Morning After

Caecina watched as his brow furrowed. He seemed confused at the question. "Well, it's only fair, you asked me basically the same question," she said with a laugh. He went on to say that they were alone, leaning closer as though conspiring with her. He said older women and she didn't count and she shook her head. "No, I don't think she counts." She didn't mention whether or not she thought that she herself counted. Marcus said that he thought he had sneaked off with someone last night. Now, that was interesting. It was also interesting how he trailed off and blushed. She had an urge to tease him for it, but decided not to, simply nodding with a smile that turned up slightly on one side in the start of a smirk. "I'll take truth, too. Unless you have a really interesting dare for me?" @Atrice

    The Morning After

Marcus lent her a hand as she reached the end, helping her out of the water. She took his hand and smiled. "Thank you." She settled on the palla, pulling up a corner of it to dry off her legs. Her legs were almost numb from the cold, tingling slightly. She said that it was his turn and he chose truth. "Truth, eh? Alright then." She wanted to come up with a really good question to ask him, since when he had asked her a question he had asked about her involvement with men. But she wasn't so sure she wanted to know which women he had been alone with, let alone what they had been doing. She was quiet for a time, considering what she wanted to ask him. Finally, she spoke up. "Have you ever been alone with a woman of our class?" She didn't want to know whether he had been with lower class women - that would mean thinking of him as a man, with sexual experiences under his belt. @Atrice

Marcus was teasing her too, pretending to have a hard time deciding what to make her do. She laughed as he finally voiced what he wanted her to do. Oh, she knew what he really wanted alright - to see if she was game enough to show her leg like that. And she didn't really want to get her skirts wet- how uncomfortable that would be! "You are a cruel game master, Marcus. That water is freezing!" But she wasn't afraid. She loved a challenge. She stood resolutely, grinning at him as she passed. She stepped up to the creek and kicked off her sandals, gathering her skirts up. With a deep breath, she stepped into the water. "Ooh! Cold!" she squealed. But she pressed on, step after step, her skirts gathered to her knee. She was afraid she was going to slip and fall, but with careful steps, she made it across and then back. "There! Thought I wouldn't do it, didn't you? Alright, your turn." @Atrice

    The Morning After

Caecina watched with interest as Marcus climbed the tree. In her younger days, she had climbed trees too, when she could get away with it. She had always preferred being active to weaving and other more womanly activities. It simply wasn't fun to just sit around all the time! Marcus was nimble and strong and she grinned as she watched him jump down onto the ground and hand her the apple. "Thank you, good sir," she said. The apple wasn't ripe at all, but it was entertaining to make him climb a tree. It was her turn again in the game. She gazed at him momentarily and then laughed. "Dare." @Atrice

    The Morning After

Caecina hoped that after all the times they had gotten into trouble together, Marcus would have the good sense not to tell Juliana. But what could she expect? For her to just sit at home and weave and hope for a man to just fall out of the sky to marry her? No. And why shouldn't she have some fun while she was looking? But Marcus smiled and winked at her and she knew she could trust him to keep her secret. Marcus chose what she knew he would: a dare. She wondered what he wanted from the game - but then, wasn't that obvious? They were alone, in a picturesque spot in the woods... She smiled at him charmingly. They would get there soon enough. She looked around, tapping her chin thoughtfully, then spotted a fruit tree that looked suitable - but challenging - to climb. "I dare you to climb that tree and get an apple." @Atrice

    The Morning After

Caecina intended to ask for a dare next, but she always started these games with truth. He asked her if she had ever been alone with another man. Of course, she was still a virgin... in the strictest form of the word. But that didn't mean she hadn't stolen a kiss here and there. What would her husband think if she was completely inexperienced? Plus, being a member of the senatorial class allowed some fun activities. "Yes, I have. Here and there," she said with a secretive smile. She smoothed out her skirt. "Nobody quite as interesting as you, though, Marcus. Alright, what about you? Truth or dare?" @Atrice

    The New Normal

Annis gazed dryly at Saba as she said that the Romans won. Obviously. Truthfully, after her group's failed attack on the Roman outpost, Annis had been wounded and during her retreat, several Romans had found her and captured her when she was weakened. It was a sore spot but she didn't respond. She simply clenched her fist tighter on the sword as Saba went in for another attack, parrying the blow. @Chevi

Annis dipped her head to show she had heard the other woman's name. She had heard from some other slaves on the way that sometimes gladiatrices chose names for the arena and she had been considering whether she would do the same. She had thought of the goddess of war in her religion, Andrasta, but felt that covering up her own name was somehow a betrayal to her background. Saba asked if she was some kind of warrior and she laughed. "Yes. I fought Romans. But now I am here." Fighting you was the unspoken rest of that sentence. Saba swung at her, then changed directions at the last minute. Annis had been distracted by talking, so the blow landed, though it wasn't really painful. Annis reminded herself not to get distracted again. She focused her gaze on the other woman and then suddenly swung her sword in a fast, wide arc toward the woman's shoulder, putting a lot of weight behind the blow. @Chevi
  9. Aglaea dipped her head at the compliment. "Thank you." Aglaea had been with her mistress so long it was like she was an extension of her. It was hard to even consider herself a self-contained person, when she always shadowed her mistress at the expense of her own desires. But she reminded herself to consider herself lucky. She had a relatively safe place to sleep, plenty of food, and a kind mistress who rarely had occasion to punish her for anything. Felix commented that Horatia enjoyed her sister's visits and that she would likely enjoy more regular ones. "I'll mention it to her. I'm sure she would like to visit more often as well." If Secundus would ever let her, that was. Aglaea looked up at the sky to judge what time it was. Livia had given her the rest of the afternoon to do what she liked, and she had already spent an hour or so just at the domus. She had been wanting to visit her temple and perhaps shop a little. "Would you look at the time!" she said. "I have some errands to run this afternoon. I hate to cut our conversation short, but I probably should be going." @Chevi

    Drowning sorrows

Aglaea watched as her mistress fell asleep, murmuring, "Yes, domina." But it was clear that Livia hadn't even heard the reply. And now Aglaea was alone with her thoughts for a while. The afternoon had given her some interesting things to consider. The tone that Livia had taken when they discussed the possibility of Aglaea finding a mate was interesting and the slave wondered if the woman would even let her have a significant other. But she didn't worry. Sometime while Livia was sleeping, the merchant came by and Aglaea left her mistress's side to give him the letter, along with a coin and instructions on where to deliver it. Soon after, Livia awoke and Aglaea smiled at her, feeling a bit motherly. "It is around eleven. We should be getting back now." @Liv Fin

    The Morning After

Caecina looked down at the palla she wore. It wasn't an ugly piece, but she had worn it riding for a reason: it was old and worn and not fit to be worn outside of the home or on horseback. She also wasn't concerned with chastity, plus it was warm out and she didn't need the extra layer anyway. She pulled the huge swath of cloth off of her and spread it out like a blanket, sitting on it. "That's much more comfortable." Marcus got a mischievous look in his eye and suggested a game: truth or dare. "Truth or dare?" she laughed. "Oh, well, I suppose we don't have anything better to do. Truth." @Atrice
  12. Annis brushed her hair off her forehead, her chest still rising and falling with vigor. He spoke and she looked up with him with a smirk. "Of course. Come and see me anytime." Annis had had a few loves in her lifetime, but none of them had lasted. She wasn't one to have lasting connections unless someone really went above and beyond. Even though she had enjoyed her time with Alexius, the fact that he had paid to have her lingered in her mind. Perhaps this was just how he got off, with strong women like gladiatrices. But she brushed it off, her opinion of it didn't matter as long as she performed. @Atrice Should we wrap?

    The Morning After

Caecina delicately slipped off of her horse's back into Marcus's hands and she blushed a little, hoping he would chalk the color in her cheeks to the exertion from before. She smoothed out her chiton as he let go of her and cleared her throat as he asked what she wanted to do. Well, what was there to do in the woods? "I'm not sure," she giggled. "What do you usually do when you come here?" @Atrice
  14. Finally, Annis climaxed. Her mind went blank, distracted by the feelings Alexius was giving her with his intense motion. Every nerve ending in her skin was lighting up. She gazed at him as he finished off to the side and then grinned when he commented that that wasn't bad. "That's quite an understatement," she said. She had thoroughly enjoyed this strange man and hoped he would come and see her again. @Atrice

    The Morning After

Caecina noticed him studying her face and she grinned at him, showing dimples. Her hair had been jostled out of place by the pace of the ride and she smoothed it back until there was no hair out of place. Marcus said he would show her the stream and she laughed. "I'm excited to see it." Perhaps not everything about spending time in the country was bad; she got to spend some time with her horses and with her friend. The pair ventured off into the forest, on a small path. Then, Marcus turned off the path and she followed suit, careful to steer her horse. Marcus commented that they should have brought a picnic. Why hadn't she thought of that beforehand! "You're right, I should have thought of that! We'll have to go for a picnic here another day. Maybe we can skip our lessons one day and come here instead. It's beautiful." Caecina wasn't often charmed by the beauties of nature but this spot was lovely, even more so because she got to enjoy it with Marcus. Then he offered to help her down from her horse and she smiled. "That would be appreciated, thank you." @Atrice
  16. Everywhere his hands traveled set her skin ablaze. She grinned up at him as he flipped her over to be on top, sighing in pleasure as he reentered her. Soon, he was sitting up with his hands on her hips, and likewise, she placed her hands on his hips. He felt amazing in her and she felt that she was getting nearer to climax. @Atrice

    The Morning After

Caecina's mood was instantly lifted as she urged the horse into a gallop, and saw Marcus was following at the same pace. She wasn't ready to be a matron by any means. When could she ride horses this freely when she had a husband to please and a house to maintain and children to raise? She wasn't ready to stop being a girl, young and full of life and energy. She loved her freedom. Soon enough, they reached the forest and Caecina pulled the horse to a trot, then a walk, breathing hard. Her face was flushed and her cheeks rosy from the exertion and she laughed. "That was fun!" She paused a moment to catch her breath. "No, I don't think I've seen it! Will you show me?" @Atrice

"Well, we shall see, I suppose," she said with a laugh. She really didn't mean to ask him for it, but it was fun to speculate. "Who would you patronize if you had the chance?" Caecina opened her food as well and ate a few bites. Then Septima remarked that you couldn't see their faces from here. "No, you're right, you can't. But I have been close enough to see their faces a few times. Not often. But a few." @Atrice

    The New Normal

Annis gazed at her as she grinned in response, her own face remaining cool and neutral. She had learned long ago that to let any emotion into a fight was to give your opponent the upper hand. The other woman aimed a blow at her, though it seemed her full effort was not behind it. Annis side-stepped the blow and aimed her own at the woman's arm. Then the woman spoke and she understood the word "name." "Annis. You?" @Chevi
  20. Aglaea took the woman's arm and supported her to the curb. She heard the sharp edge in the woman's voice but was determined not to rise to it. "No," she replied patiently. "I was purchasing a piece of jewelry for my mistress and the shopkeeper was difficult to deal with." The woman seemed to imply that she might have some sort of relationship with someone, or even her dominus and she almost laughed, but figured that would make her even more angry than she was. "Your foot looks as though it will be alright in a moment." @Sara
  21. Annis let out a moan of pleasure between their kisses. His little nips at her skin set her on fire, and his hands exploring her backside sent waves of pleasure down her back and through her stomach. She heard him ask her if she wanted him to take her and she managed to choke out, "Yes, please." Her voice was breathless. He was the most attentive partner she had had in some time and he was allowing her to take her own pleasure. But she wanted him to be pleased as well. @Atrice

    The Morning After

Marcus mentioned that they could ask Aia about Britannia and she brightened up. "Yes, that's a good idea. She's such an interesting woman. She's seen so much!" Caecina found Aia fascinating, even if her lessons were boring. Aia couldn't help that her student barely thought of her own education past what would get her married! Marcus seemed to grow tired of talking about traveling and she grinned as he asked where she wanted to ride to. Without a word, the girl nudged her horse up to a gallop and zipped past Marcus, heading to the forest he spoke about. As she went past, she said, "Race you there!" @Atrice

    The New Normal

The woman before Annis was dark-haired and had a wild look to her. But Annis was far from cowed. In fact, she was encouraged that, at first glance, her opponent seemed more than capable. She heard the broken Latin and tried to piece together what she could understand. She knew the word "fight" for sure. She thought she recognized the word "before," too. "Many time," she said, swinging the wooden sword lazily. "You?" @Chevi
  24. As the woman spoke, Aglaea felt her own temper flare up. But after a second, she remembered the tenets of her new religion - to love thy enemy and to turn the other cheek. She took a breath before responding, clearly gathering herself. "I apologize once more. I was not paying attention." She looked at the woman's foot. It didn't seem permanently damaged. "Can I help you to the curb? You should rest your foot before continuing on." It was hard to swallow her pride like that, even harder not to reply with harsh words. But she knew that mean words did not often come from nowhere. Perhaps this woman needed help in more ways than one, and if she could show kindness, perhaps it would help. @Sara

    Out Alone

Caecina smiled when her companion said that her grandfather would probably never let her become a patron. "Maybe my father will let me if I don't ask for anything else for while. You should ask too - maybe we could even go in together, split the cost?" She was really just being hypothetical; there was no way her father, let alone Juliana, who had a much tighter rein on her, would let her do such a thing. Then, Septima asked if she knew any of the gladiators and she shook her head. "I'm not very good with names, if I am honest. I recognize faces I've seen multiple times, but I can't always remember their names. What about you?" @Atrice
