  3. What are some of the quirks of this amazing community? @Sharpie's quote about character creation is 100% true. AeRonian: noun habitual enabler; RPer with multiple characters despite protestations that the next will be absolutely the last s/he will make
  4. THE GAMES He had been looking forward to this day for quite sometime. The gladiatorial games in celebration. He strode towards the Dias with his hands outstretched. He took in the roar of the crowd and waited for them to quiet while he gave thanks to Caesar, and to the rest of the Imperial family for putting these games on. Not to mention potentially gain some favour for doing so. The editor of the Games was pleased with the eager roar of anticipation and excitement from the crowd over the days dealings. They would be the talk of Rome until they were concluded. The Imperials and wealthy people would be inside the Imperial box.. and the other areas would be left to the lower classes. The animal fights had already begun, and had been concluded. The remains and wounded gladiators were in the process of being dragged from the arena. Leaving blood and entrails behind, only to be covered up by sand while the editor of the games gave his speech to the gathered Romans. Trumpets sounded! Bread was thrown! It would be a merry day! "Romans! Countrymen! This day, our Augustus has given us a mixed gathering! We have," He paused, discreetly looking at his notes for a quick second before he cried out, "Amazons! Deserters given a chance of redemption! Champions! Or.... future champions!" He called out. Now the first of the games will begin! Welcome AeRos! There will be main points in different areas. Post your character where they are most likely to be. Each match must only have the participants posting in it. The champion match is still open for who wins and will be posted. Feel free to post in your arena as soon as you like. People are more than welcome to have threads of their own away from the main thread. But they are all considered to be open so you may be post bombed. Enjoy!
  5. The Stands This is the area where the lower classes would gather. From slaves, freedmen, plebs, proles and others! Come and watch the spectacle of the games! Expect vendors to come by with offerings of food and joy! Oh, and there are pickpockets about
  6. The Imperial Box The Imperial box is where the Imperial family and notable nobles would likely sit (or they would sit close in the hopes of being invited in!). No doubt there would be interesting topics of conversation happening here.
  7. She gave him a visible smile of gratitude at the offer of smelling salts. Claudia nodded and followed him into the stables with her faithful body slave followed her. The Princess knew she had come unexpected, and completely out of the blue. "I understand, I did not give you a lot of notice," She answered politely. Claudia followed his gaze and looked towards the vast complex used to house the slaves, employees and others. She had seen similar and familiar structures previously. Although much of her time had been focused on the areas that were typically 'for show'. The next question caused her to smile, a hint of a blush on her cheeks and knew her mother would have been happy. It was not a normal animal for a Roman princess to have. "Soluto is descended from one of the horses bred by my mother at her stables. A lot of the stock had been stolen during the purges and he was one of the animals I was able to track down." She answered, shrugged her shoulders. "As for the origin of the stock. I am not sure where she got them. A lot of people would give my mother horses and other exotic beasts," Claudia explained, as she began to feel more at ease. Many of her memories of her mother were few, and relied on the experiences of others. Essentially, it was a way to feel close to her. "Some of the others horses have been gifts from Ambassadors that I have managed to come into my person, or animals that I have purchased myself." Claudia continued. "Where do you usually find stock for the races?" Claudia asked. @Polarity

  9. Quintus' eyes twinkled at her comment. Their Venusiana was a goddess to behold, and Cornelia had never been jealous nor hostile. Venusiana was as much her love as she was his. He too accepted the wine and sipped it in thought. When it came to gifts he would have preferred to have Cornelia's stylish eye choosing whatever it happened to be. "I am sure we will find something suitable," He answered, although they all knew what that meant. Cornelia would likely choose something and he would have his body slave hand over the necessary coin for the item. Then there were the children's birthdays coming up. It felt like only a short time ago they were only children who required their parents. Their eldest son was getting closer to becoming a man, and the obligations that came with the position. "Hmm, perhaps a new horse for Minor? Or the family could travel somewhere in the empire to show him life outside the city proper," Quintus continued, smiled softly and extended his hand to rest on her arm to reassure her. His fears for their children leaned more to the potential for disgrace and shame. "Has he or Rufiana said what they would like for their birthdays?" Quintus asked. He tried to spend time with his children yet Cornelia spent more time with them than he did. It would be some time before any concern for the younger children. He was all too happy for them to have their childhood. After all, there was only a limited time for them to be children before becoming adults, and dealing with responsibilities that came with it. @Anna

    Catching up

He loved the pet project. It was dear to his heart. Knowledge for Romans, and what he hoped would later become the centre of the world. There were many other projects he had a desire to put in place yet they would need to wait. There was always a chance that the Gods would determine it would be his son, Octavius Minor and nephews who would see any other projects to completion. Still, he had many years to go yet before that would happen. "Construction has already begun on the project, and will likely continue for many years." He answered. His eyes bright with excitement and enthusiasm for the project. Octavius had ambitions that were different from many members of his family. His was to leave physical structures, and that would be the way he would be remembered. That, and his loyalty to his family. "In areas marked by fires and areas were calamities happened for the Roman people, it will be symbolic of a time of education and glory for the future." Octavius answered, perhaps it was a little idealistic. @Sharpie
  12. Gaia looked in the direction that Aeneas had pointed. It seemed like as good a place as any, and Gaia was not known for snobbery when it came to establishments. She was perfectly happy to go anywhere. Her station meant there were risks yet she trusted her safety to the two men who would accompany her. It didn't surprise her that Lexus would know the place, even if it was from a long time ago. She laughed and nodded, personally, Gaia did not mind a man who came from training for more ... intimate matters yet there was a time and a place for it. Her gaze moved along Aeneas' form. He was handsome and yet her daughter had practically marked him as her territory. No doubt they would certainly attract attention. "Yes, Aeneas, go bathe and return to us." She said, then playfully nudged Lexus with her elbow and winked up at him. It was good to spend time with him again. All the old memories were coming up. It would also be quite pleasant to hear the improvements that Aeneas had made to his language, and perhaps, Lexus could be kind enough to grant him a few tips when it came to surviving the training process. "He is sweet, and could you offer him some tips?" Gaia asked, her hand on Lexus' muscular arm. She enjoyed spending time with Lexus, and hoped the Aeneas would, also. @Sarah @Atrice
  13. I can't believe we are so close to December. What a year this has been! ❤️

  14. Cut-offs close on the 30th of November with the first matches opening on the 2nd of December.
  15. Atticus could not help but wiggle his eyebrows in jest at the phrase. Not yet. Jokes aside, it made sense and young Rufus had a good head on his shoulders. He asked questions rather than let himself get caught with his dick in the wind. He looked back at the pieces of parchment in front of him then paused at the next question. Again, it was not uncommon. It would be a negligent host who did not ensure that all their guests needs were met. He was about to answer when Rufus continued, and again he peeked out at Octavius who was still working in silence. "The Dominus is busy, and doesn't prefer being disturbed. Besides, unity and concord within the household and all that," Atticus answered, still, he was impressed at how Rufus wanted to please him. Too many slaves were pushy or wanted to climb the social ladder. Rufus was refreshing. "I think you will do well in the household," Atticus said, a part of him wanted to ask what Rufus wanted to do but decided against it. No point bringing up something that could potentially cause pain. Then again.... a lot of people didn't like listening to an old man prattle on. So, perhaps Rufus was trying to make a graceful exit? "I think I have told you everything," Atticus added thoughtfully. @Sharpie
  16. He listened while the conversation had been guided. It would be happening and now they needed to decide how to fund the enterprise. Quintus knew his wife would be pleased. Although he was more practical, and concerned when it came to direct funding. Donations were always a good thought. Yet many wanted to know they would receive direct results would ultimately be. It was a long term investment in the future of Rome. Quintus figured matters concerning the female children would be left to the women, who would train them in women's duties so they may become proper wives and mothers to the future men of Rome. Quintus addressed the gathered assembly of men. "Good Praetextatus speaks true concerning the wares. Perhaps, the wares should be stamped with an official seal and become a source of pride for the people of Rome? To purchase an item with the official stamp on the wars would be a sign of unity," He said, "as for cost, taxation is not popular and donations may be a good idea for now. Yet.. it is not a long term solution, my colleagues." Quintus said his piece and sat down once more. @Brian
  17. MARCUS CASSINUS. 25 | 22 July 49CE | Milite | Pleb | Bisexual | Original | Jai Courtney Personality & History Marcus' life before this point was quite average. He learned his trade and went into service to Rome through the legion once he was able to do so. His poorer background and lack of a trade kept him at Milite rank for sometime. Marcus did not know why he fled. He could have been executed in a variety of ways. If he had of been closer to the old legion he served in. He may have attempted to go back to the legion to face punishment. He thought himself an honourable man until the yearnings to return home became too strong. They needed him back here. There were harvests, and he needed to protect his family members. It all became too much for him to cope with. He deserted. Once he was home he began to realise his mistake and what it would eventually cost him. Surely the authorities would understand? A compassionate officer instead gave him the chance to survive or die in the arena to see whether or not the Gods would be compassionate towards him. Marcus deeply regrets his decisions and hopes to make amends with blood, if need be. In a strange way he hopes to reclaim his honour to Rome. Family Two disappointed parents and other family members. EVENT FOR: Gladiatorial games.
