  1. Oh, now this was juicy! There was something about listening to people gossip about their betters that always managed to brighten his day. Atticus leaned forward and rubbed his hands together. He wouldn't gossip. Buuut there was nothing wrong with a bit of gossip. It could potentially add to some rather excited scenarios when the Dominus' cousin came. Octavius and Titus were quite close as friends, and it was not uncommon for them to spend time together. He stopped himself from blurting out something and reached over to pat Rufus' shoulder. He liked the young man, and hoped no-one would be jealous or cruel towards him. "Is it going to cause you any issues? He is a regular guest here." Atticus asked curiously. Slaves were property yet they also were human beings, with feelings and consideration. He was itching to know how Titus felt about Rufus. Were there going to be any secret liaisons while they were there? Would Octavius be willing for his body slave to tend to his cousin's more intimate needs? Oh Gods! It was juicy and exciting. Perhaps age was approaching and he was finding excitement in the smallest things. @Sharpie

  4. @Tori is skipped. Marcus Aemilius Scaurus Alexander remained silent during the proceedings yet listened closely. (As Titus Flavius Caesar Alexander) Titus listened eagerly to what had been said. Someday this would be where he would address the Senate and ask for their opinions on his policies. For each man in turn, he would consider what was said and watched as his cousin, Tiberius entered to speak to the gathered assembly. He had no desire to be overshadowed by his cousin. Even if they were close friends. He smiled when Tiberius came back to stand with him and leaned towards him to whisper. "Well done, Tibs," in his ear. Many of the men had similar beliefs of assistance when it came to dealing with the unfortunates. Titus was not above compassion for his fellow man. Especially if it meant that the people would be loyal to his family for what had been given to them. Then his father rose to speak to the gathered assembly of men. Titus felt his heart fill with pride at the sight and listened to his father's words. It was not politically wise to speak out against Caesar. The Augustus spoke of the future issues Rome had to deal with. The Germani and the threat from the East before mentioning the civil war that had torn many families apart through the struggle to maintain power. Many died. Including his legitimised half-brother... and his twin, although the latter came afterwards. Confidentially he walked out to address the gathered assembly of men. He may be young but he needed to show them how worthy he was to be here. Caesar's son or not. "I agree with my honourable father, the Princeps," He began with a nod in Quintus' direction. "Coin runs the world and the Roman state must be wise. A focus in Italia as a model for other places to follow would be the best cause of action. Any issues will be found prior and be able to be nipped in the bud. My honourable step-mother has contributed much time and resources to her own cause, yet, we need to look for longer and more stable forms of coin. The Ailmentia tax, it may not be popular as a rise in taxes never are yet it will give long term funds for the project." He stopped then asked. "And how long do we expect this to go on? Will we support these orphans from this civil war or will we be supporting all orphans?" Titus asked, before he went back to stand alongside Tiberius and gave him a playful nudge with his elbow. @Brian
  5. Basically reply with your character responding to the one above with a gif of their reaction to the person above.
  6. "That never happens for me. My duties keep me busy." What do you think of the ocean?
  7. Character Clothing Profile CLAUDIA GAIA Gaia was a character that I never thought I would get into. She was one of my, "well, throw her into the world and see where she ends up!" and I got to say, her story has surprised me. Gaia or Χρυσανθη (Chrysanthe) started her life as a poor farm girl in Greece. However, in AeRo, her story began as a slave when she was given as a gift to Manius (one of Claudius' heirs and his nephew) by Archaita, Manius' mother. Essentially, she was supposed to be some entertainment for him. She was 15/or 16 depending on what was changed. Her innocence and sexuality were both two things that drew Manius to her, and gave her freedom, marriage, etc. Despite his passing, she has always had a lustful streak and it is shown in her clothing. Her hair is often loose, untied and it is not uncommon to see her wearing a simple chiton. Free flowing, relatively casual, and I want to describe Gaia as a bit of a free spirit through her clothing. When she does dress up, this is normally how her hair tends to be. Later on, I will do Corinthia's as well so there is a bit more of a comparison between mother and daughter. Earlier, much of Gaia's clothing was a symbol of how out of water she was when it came to dealing with the wealthy members of Rome. In comparison to now? She wears these pieces of clothing because she wants to. Some examples of Gaia's clothing. (Yes, I know these are modern. These are more ideas, inspo so ) That is all I can think of for Gaia. I hope you like checking out this piece on Gaia's clothing choices and glimpse into her personality.

    Daddy Issues

Marcus had never killed a woman. His job was not always considerate towards the fairer sex, and to ensure they did not damage the reputation of the establishment. If they wished to end a woman's life they would usually send Aquila. He had no scruples when it came to doing the crimes that they were not comfortable with doing. "Dead?!" He asked, in shock and remembered her. Oh.. how could he possibly forger the times he spent with her in his (and Calvunus') arms. It was never easy to think that a woman he had been intimate was long amongst the living. Marcus was not sure whether he should humour her or not. He turned to look back in the direction of the doorway where he could see Aquila at the doorway. Marcus exhaled, shrugged and looked in the popina she had chosen. It was good enough. "Come on, we can talk here," He said, did not wait for her to enter and sat with his back against the wall. Marcus had no desire for someone to try to approach him from behind or shank him in the ribs. Marcus waited for her to sit down and join him. There were many questions he wanted to ask her -- and perhaps, she simply needed to vent her frustrations for a while. @Sydney

    Midnight Games

Marcus grumbled about her criticism of his bedtime story. Her hand movements nearly distracted him. He could not help but often find himself seduced by her movements. There was a pause when she said that he was very sweet. Sweet! Marcus grumbled to himself in frustration about being treated this way. He may have been a terror on the streets yet here he was with the courtesans. He often found himself verbally disarmed. He sighed and reached up to ruffle Vibia's hair with his hand with an evil smirk. "Hey! This is my story. If you want me to say it, shut your cakehole." He answered back, grumbled again and cleared his thoughts. Carrying her to bed admittedly could not hurt yet they would need to be discreet. The lower classes were not considered worthy clients of the Domus Venus. Still, it would flatter his ego. Marcus sighed, grumbled and playfully booped her nose with his fingertip. "Only if you behave yourself, toots. Now... where was I?" He asked. Purposely tried to think of the answer as quickly as possible so she would not find something else to tease him about. "Oh yes, the Musician went and beat them up because her hands were blessed by one of the Gods. After she came back she went with her friend, who was devilishly handsome and served to guard the Queen," Marcus added with his not-so-subtle self-insert character into the world. @Sara
  10. Juliana did feel a measure of compassion for him. Yet spoiling a slave (or a child!) would only lead to more issues later on. It was kinder to discipline them early on and ensure their behaviour would lead to success later in life. Good behaviour usually meant that the slave would be rewarded or at least, would not suffer a grisly fate that many soon found themselves in. She could not help but feel a little wicked when he was taken back by flattery. Surely he must have tried that before? She walked through the baths and fanned herself with her hand with the heat. Finally they came to an office, and Helenus was right. The boss was not here yet. She exhaled slowly in frustration, another issue with a simple visit to the baths! She leaned against the door frame briefly and turned to look at him when he began to ask his pleading. Her arms crossed and fingers tapped for a moment. It would not take long before Arria would arrive for their meeting. "Do you know when your supervisor is likely to arrive?" She asked, a raised eyebrow at his continued boldness to ask her to change her mind. This was the second time now. A promise was one thing yet when she was back home, away from the baths and the city of Rome itself. How would she know that he changed his behaviour? There was always a chance that he had behaved like this before. Juliana did not answer his questions, and waited for him to respond to hers. @Atrice

  15. Alaric listened and nodded. "Which Ludus do you work for?" He asked, interested in hearing about where he could have ended up long ago. Naturally, Theo would have been on the opposite side of the bars and wondered how the workers felt about their occupation. Did he like it? Hate it? Was it just a job? Alaric had so many questions to ask but was polite enough to see how well Quintus engaged the question. The idea of standing on a galloping chariot was a strange concept for him. He had seen them used during warfare but other than speed. There was not a lot of maneuverability. Once one of the horses was dead or injured, it meant there were few options for the drivers. "A lot of coin involved in it. My wife sells horses to the racing team sometimes," He said. His horse farm had soon become their horse farm, and he would not have it any other way. @Chevi
  16. The training at the slave school could be quite harsh. Yet it meant that the students would go into households with skills and training that made them more valuable. A valued slave was treated better than an unfavoured one. There were several slaves who were going to be chosen. Classmates. Turia stood with her eyes downcast and listened closely to any signs that there would be an important changes. In her mind, all of the commands, hints and tricks were going through her mind. This could be the beginning of a bright future. Favour meant a small wage, the change of freedom, and only the Gods knew where her fate would eventually end. Her hands trembled as the price was discussed. Yet the noblewoman did not bargain herself and instead had a slave who did the work for her. It made her wonder what it was like to be able to live such a comfortable, privileged life where she did not have to lift a finger and all of her needs would be met. Suddenly a hand went under her chin and tilted her head up so her gaze could meet her new Domina's. A person who could have complete power over her. The Roman woman studied her, more akin to how a person evaluated the worth of an animal and looked at her cheeks from side to side. Not a word was spoken to Turia directly. Her attributes were mentioned. She was healthy, courses regular (Gods! She hoped to never have children!), polite, skilled at her work, and came from good loyal stock. A deal was soon struck. She was sold. Her head from childhood was filled with the promises of what this day would have been like for her. A joyous occasion. She could not help but feel her stomach sink in a feeling of sadness. She would be leaving the only home she had ever known. The Dominus placed his hand on her shoulder. "Turia, these are good people. They will take care of you. Promise to be a good girl and represent the school proudly. They have promised that you will be able to visit your mother, so long as you behave." He warned her. "Yes Dominus, when do I go?" Turia asked with a hint of sadness in her voice. "Tomorrow, and no sadness. Smile! It is your future. Go and tell your mother the good news!" He exclaimed, oblivious to the pain she was currently in.
  17. Juliana looked at his pleading and could not help but think that he resembled a drowned rat. Perhaps she should have commanded him to dry himself off before putting his tunica on? It must not have been pleasant to beg and plead. Her eyebrows narrowed in irritation, she exhaled slowly and put her hand up. Palm facing him in a gesture for him to stop what he was doing. "Flattery will not work on me, come now, you are only making this worse," She told him, clicked her fingers for him to follow and walked towards the room where the supervisor likely was. There were more people around now. Two of Helenus' colleagues saw him being chided, giggled and pointed their fingers at him. She paused at the doorway of the room and looked inside. Empty. A sight that she did not wish to see. Juliana exhaled in irritation and had a feeling that Arria would find the story utterly hilarious. Arria always seemed to find a way to do so. "Hm, do you know where he is?" Juliana asked, guessed that his supervisor was male and waited for his answer. One little visit to the baths was proving to be far more busy than she ever intended. She fanned her face from the heat of the baths. @Atrice

    Catching up

Octavius smiled and rose from his seat to greet his friend with a handshake before an embrace. "Aulus, it is good to see you, and yes to both counts. I hope your journey was safe," He said, turned and nodded his head to Atticus, a subtle sign that it was time for the people who served as his clients to leave and come back tomorrow. Behind him, Rufus waited to attend to his Dominus' needs and patiently waited. He moved to the side and gave Aulus a look to encourage him to walk with him. Octavius walked with him towards the triclinium that had already been set up for the visitor's arrival. "Come, come, make yourself at home," Octavius invited in his typical friendly manner. It would be easier to discuss politics, their families, and a range of other topics without potentially alienating Ario with the conversation. He took a seat and it did not take long before food and wine was presented to them by the household slaves. Being a hospitable host was important to Octavius, and he was more than happy to provide. "Have you been well?" Octavius asked. @Sharpie
  20. There had been no incidents when they were out today. The visits had gone quite well. People were polite and praised her yet what would happen if they eventually decided that they did not like her or her family? She extended her arms as other household slaves began to disrobe her, remove her jewelry and pin up her hair to protect it from the water. Claudia re-entered the room, had her body coated in oil before being massaged and had a strigil run over her skin. "Cynane, how much security do you think I will require if I go into the poorer areas? I wish to see some of the projects that Drusilla has going on for the less fortunate," She asked. Drusilla's public works had been one of the most prominent things she had done since becoming the Augusta. She gestured with her hand for Volusa to join and assist her get into the warmth of the water. "Put it down, Volusa. I will eat soon." She said, in private, she permitted her slaves to have some more freedom with their words than what she would permit in the public sphere. "I'm not sure whether Decimus would need to come or whether I need more Praetorians," She sighed in aristocratic frustration of the necessities of life, and waited for either of the two women to comment. @Sharpie @Atrice
  21. Claudia nodded her head in understanding. She expected both of them would need to serve the Empire and prove their worth. She was interested in learning which of them would succeed the most with the people of Rome, and maintain Caesar's favour. She was disappointed that he did not continue with the discussion concerning the political career they would have. "It is vital for the people of Rome to see them. You have a new dynasty and it is important for them to make their mark," She answered objectively. Putting aside her father and the connections she had with him. It was not a topic she had been either dreading nor one that shocked her. Marriage was an important part of Roman life, and a connection to the family was important. It was only a matter of time before the topic would have come up, and she appreciated it coming now rather than a sudden announcement of upcoming nuptials. "If you are asking whether the women of our family warned me about what would come on my wedding night? Yes, I have been well versed in what will come," She answered, and itched to know whether there were already any candidates that her family wished to connect to their family. Would she like him? Would he like her or would any marriage be solely for politics? "I, forgive me, but has any candidate been chosen for me to marry?" She was not sure what answer she hoped for. @Chris
  22. A lot of the themes are either works in progress (and I will need the ones that are a surprise until they are released) or ideas that got discarded/or security changes as the software gets upgraded. The theme changer is very handy. Thanks for the input everyone
  23. I found this and thought to share it with everyone.
